I missed the game last night and was watching the recording early this afternoon. D15 walks by just as we score the second goal and hears the announcer, then comes in and says

- Two goals one player?
- Yep.
- Cool. Are we winning?
- This is from last night. I recorded it when I was out. We already won.

Then she runs and tells D10 all about it "we won last night!" This from two daughters who had never been to a sporting event more than a month ago (they each came to one of the last 2 home games with me), and who had no interest in fandom or spectator sports whatsoever.

My wife and one daughter fight now if I have an extra ticket over who gets to go. I just asked my ticket rep to put me on a list for any additional seats that come available in my section. And so it grows.

That's great. I haven't dragged my wife to a game yet but it will happen.

My son just turned 21 and has been a huge baseball fan his entire life. A normal summer for us is to make it up to Yankee Stadium 3 or 4 times and a trip or two out to Citi Field.

I can't recall the exact circumstances, but he sat down with me one day while I was watching a match involving SKC as the home team. I asked him if would be interested in going up to see NYCFC when they began and he told me he'd love to, because the atmosphere at the stadium coming over the TV makes it look like it would be a lot of fun.

We went to the New England match back in March and he's been hooked ever since. For one reason or another we can only make it up to the Bronx once (maybe twice) a month, so I let him decide if he wants to see the Yankees or NYCFC........ it's been NYCFC every time. Hell, the only reason we took in a Yankee game this season is because my B-I-L gave us a pair of freebies a few weeks ago.

I can see my Mrs. slowly but surely getting interested, but getting her and my daughter on the subway is entirely a different matter all together. :D

I gave my two year old boy an NYCFC teddy bear and he named him Mix. He has two team tshirts that he wears proudly and often. He spots folks on the street wearing our jersey faster than I do. He even called out the logo on the back of a pedicab in Central Park that was like 100 yards away. I'm taking my wife to the derby this weekend for her first game, and we both couldn't be more excited. I finally get to share the soccer tradition in the way my father did with me when I was a kid and couldn't be more thrilled.

I took my older son, then 3, to the July 3 derby last summer. Haven't made it back with him since, but he'll still cuddle up with me when I'm watching a game and explain that he's a "good kicker, just like David Villa!" Tells me he's going to be a defender when he grows up. (Or a construction man.)

My wife swears she'll go to every game as soon as we can get season tickets.

Life is good.

She's definitely come a long way as an NYCFC fan!
