Ticket Sales

So it appears the Category 6 pricing is:

Founding Members: $22
Regular STH: $24
9 match plan: $26
Single game: $30

A large increase over last year when viewed as a percentage, but still pretty reasonable on the whole. 9 match plans in particular are a surprisingly good deal especially considering they give many of the STH benefits and allow you to avoid ticketmaster fees.

That's not too bad. IIRC, that's only going to be a $2 boost for the single gamers like me. Then again, you have to keep an eye on those sneaky bastits, because they did raise the price of single game matches a couple of bucks during the season. ;)

We're selling every possible seat in the lower and middle tiers of Yankee Stadium (aside from Away Supporters). Capacity looks closer to 33,444 which is what's stated online wikipedia for Yankee Stadium.

We're pleased to introduce a new City Member benefit and an update to the resale platform for the 2017 season.

City Ticket Trade-in Program

Starting next season, you'll be able to trade-in tickets from up to four (4) matches you cannot attend for future matches in the 2017 season. You can use these extra tickets to bring out friends, family and coworkers to Yankee Stadium so they can enjoy some exciting soccer right alongside you.
Ticket Exchange Resale Update

After receiving feedback from our City Members, there will be a change next season to the resale platform you can use to resell tickets. The lowest price at which you can post your tickets for sale will be half of the Founding Member price in all seating areas for the 2017 season.

Yeah. The Trade-in program description raises more questions than answers.

Why? Seems simple - can't make a game and either don't want to sell the ticket or can't find a buyer, so you trade it in for tickets to a future game that you plan to attend anyway - that way you can bring along friends/family and you haven't lost the value of the tickets to the one you couldn't attend. The caveat is obviously that your new tickets are not going to be next to your existing seats, unless your neighbors happen to trade in their tickets for that game.

this. really simple. Red Bull had this a few years back and then scrapped it. personally, love it

Right, that's what confused me, it just seems like you would have to get very very lucky for the STH next to you to have traded in tickets for the game to which you would like to add seats.
If that's the case, can you choose to scatter the seats if they are available and just not sit next to your guests (I assume so)? Can you accumulate seats from the four games and use them all for one game (I assume so)?

Sounds cool though. It's probably just me, the brain is a little slow these days. Thanks for rubbing it in Ulrich and Goodfella - two Forum Folks I'd No Longer Like to Have a Beer With ;)

hahaha! from my days as RB STH, there were also certain games that were blacked out of the trade in program, i.e. big sellers, and you're right, tickets to the games you attend will be in another section. I can't recall if you even got to select the section. Either way, beats the hell out of wasted tickets

I have to wonder if they have noticed a decline in secondary market sales. I would love to see those numbers though I doubt I ever will.

I have 4 STH and usually sell 2. I have noticed a big drop off in both price and actually selling the tix. Last year I sold all but 2 matches. This year it's about 30 -40% unsold so far. Just waiting for the playoff ticket market!!

I've sold the games I listed, haven't not sold any, but the $ are down. Most for a bit above cost or at cost.

I've had 4 tickets go unused this season. For the tickets I've sold it's either high or low. Seriously they'll either sell for $40 on the exchange or $10 on stubhub, never somewhere in between.

I remembered today, that when the schedule for this season was released my first thought was "My spare tickets are going to have trouble selling." It appears I was right. I'm definitely interested in purchasing playoffs tickets because I would love to be present for our first playoffs run, BUT our season ends the end of October. November tends to be cold. I get the feeling we will have to commit to buying before the playoff game schedule is released, and I don't even get out until after 8pm most weeknights now, so weeknight 7pm playoffs games aren't doable for me. So if I buy playoffs tickets and end up being unable to go, there's a real concern that I will end up eating at least part of the cost, because normal people don't buy tickets to weeknight November outdoor stadium games in NYC!

I think the historic first home playoff game, will be enough to get people to come out regardless of the weather, so buy your tickets, go if you can, sell if you must.
