Would you like to keep Chatbox during games?

Wanted to get everyone's opinion on our live chat feature during the game.
Do you use it? Do you prefer it over just replying in the Matchday thread.

Yeah man keep the chat box cause even when there is no stream or stream is crap, the chat box works well. And it works better for us on mobile.

I support the chat box, but the alternative would be a dedicated PBP thread, which closes at the end of the match. I prefer the chat mainly because it's easier to navigate, especially with frequent new posts being added constantly.

I'm for threads. I know the biggest argument is having to reload constantly but I've used match threads on Reddit for a couple years now so I'm used to hitting F5 multiple times a minute. Also, if you miss the game, you can read through the match thread and get a real good idea if whats going on.

For non NYCFC games, drafts or other events I would prefer chatbox.

What's the possibility of simply having both? Chatboxers can chat and Threaders can thread........

why not? I know i like the chat box if im watching on my computer ... let's do both

Yeah, as @BxLio91 says above, the majority of people will pretty much always gravitate to the chatbox if it's available because you get a much more instantaneous conversation. Even if only half of the people here used the chatbox, what it also does is reduce the number of people that those who use the thread can actually chat to, which isn't such a problem when you're effectively instant messaging in a chatbox but has more of a numbing effect on conversation in a thread.

On top of this, the chatbox is only available on the forum homepage, whereas to reply to the thread you have to be in the thread itself, so to use both you've got to either have two tabs or constantly flick between them. That's not to mention that you're effectively having the same conversation in both formats.

I guess it just comes down to what you're used to. For years I've been posting on threads during Giants games and that just seems to be the easiest way for me for any number of reasons.

I can see the trouble concerning having to open tabs during streamed games, but in two weeks when games are televised it shouldn't be a problem. If no one minds, beginning on the 8th I'll start up a Game Day thread. If it takes off, it takes off. If no one wants to participate i'll squash it. no harm no foul. ;)

EDIT
Or use the one already started in the "Match Day" room. duh

Not sure whether Dan and Falastur will be on tomorrow evening but presumably the chatbox will not be forgotten about by other online admins? Last time it was Falastur who closed afterwards. It was a massive success last week as far as I'm concerned so certainly should be open again. Obviously more numbers will be at the game anyway so not sure how occupied the forum will be. So the issue of people gravitating to chatbox or forums first wouldnt be as important as away fixtures. Exceptions mainly being international members such as myself and those in other parts of the US.
