USMNT Talk

It doesn't make predictions. The article is a backwards looking analysis of the Mexico game. You can judge it now. Future games are different. The only carry-over relates to the fact the article commends Berhalter for not resting his best remaining players despite numerous injuries and absences and yellow card accumulation, and for trying to win, which I seem to remember you supported to the point that you said the opposing opinion was garbage that made you angry. If the team does poorly in the next 2 games, that decision comes out looking pretty bad. Other than that, the article has no direct implications for the next two games.
Looks like I got pulled over by the forum police.

The headline is the problem. My points still stand.

I’ll also add that to choose to go with 5 at the back with 10 minutes remaining is a cowardly move. This team has more talent than any other team in conccaf and should have qualified by now and you have to blame that on the coach.

I think this is our culture in general and nit soccer specific. There is so much aggrievment from people of privilege. Entire channels on the TV broadcast the latest thing that someone is doing to you and your country. Someone makes a mistake or needs to be educated about something and, I’m going to say it although the term is now part of an aggrieved class, they get “cancelled”.
And if I’m honest I take part in this on some level.
We just all need to do better and yeah, not complaining about everything concerning your soccer team may be a good start.

No team in CONCACAF has qualified by now. Blame all the coaches?

Even Tata hasnt been sacked for not qualifying yet.

All that matters is qualifying for the WC

Tata should be sacked. That team, like the United States has underperformed this entire cycle.

The United States has the most talent of any team in concacaf.

I’m going to complain. I apologize ahead of time…
But the “that was soft” comment is out of hand and Stu Holden got on my shit list awhile back during an NYCFC game and tonight he’s given me no reason to take him off… forearm into the neck should be a penalty especially after grabbing pushing someone’s neck / face earlier. Maybe I’m in the minority, but if that’s what you want go watch WWF. I want to see skill. Stu Holden is a schmuck. That’s me venting.

First Goal - PK won by Zimmerman (MLS)
Second Goal - Arriola (MLS)
Third Goal - Ferreira (MLS)
Fourth Goal - PK won by M. Robinson (MLS)

All before halftime.
MLS is all over the national team, and in a good way. Most of the non-MLS players either came out of the league or were developed in the academies - Adams, Reyna, McKennie, Busio, Pepi, Weah, Ferreira, Aaronson, Yedlin, Richards, Scally, Sands, Cannon, Moore, Steffan, etc.

I have seen a couple of analyses showing that the US has an extremely longshot chance to end up in Pot 1 for the World Cup draw, but I'm only interested in how the US is somehow behind Mexico in the rankings. We won the Gold Cup and beat them head to head. We won Nations Cup (or League or whatever) and beat them H2H. We have the exact same record in qualifying, against the same competition, but we also have a better goal differential and our record against Mexico is 1 Win 1 draw. Does anyone know why we are behind? None of the pieces I read explain that part.
I have 2 theories: First, we were so far behind pre-2021 we still have not caught up. I know this is why Canada is pretty far behind both despite being on top of WCQ. But I don't think we were that far behind and beating a team in 3 straight competitions would seem to overcome that eventually. Second possibility, that we have the same record but beat Mexico H2H means we also have 1 extra loss against some other CONCACAF team, and that somehow counts for more than everything else. Does anyone know what the answer is? I'm not insinuating anything biased or foul play. It just seems odd.
