Horvath not doing himself any favors tonight for that 3rd GK spot…
After the Uruguay game I read comments on twitter and reddit claiming he doesn't play with his feet with NYCFC. Too many soccer fans in this country maintain a wilful ignorance about MLS.“Sean Johnson isn’t good enough in possession to be the #3” - USMNT nerds on Twitter, meanwhile he actually stops the ball unlike Horvath. That goal was cringe-worthy.

yea and the play they base that willfully ignorant opinion on is one that every announcer/pundit commented as being a great ball that yedlin just couldn't get under control.
Yup, so long as he shows some consistent form at least. It seems as though he probably needs the least body of proof between now and then to lock down the top spot. Turner probably has a spot locked, but will need to show considerably more. Johnson, Horvath and anyone else needs good form just to get the #3 spot, but would have to go on some unimaginable run of form to get playing time.Looks like Zach Stefan is headed to Boro. If he plays regularly you've got to figure he's starting at the World cup, agree?

Also gotta remember that Steffen hasn't been good for any club/national team in a long time. Not sure this locks Steffan into the #1 spot. Turner is going to get some Cup time with Arsenal and has been better with the national team. Steffan needs to show really good form to earn the start.
On a recent MIB podcast, they pointed out that at the World Cup, we will be playing stronger teams where we won't be possessing nearly as much as we have, and so shot stopping increases in importance relative to playing the ball. That has to favor Turner.
Always good to be in a tournament. We qualified for the Olympics. I didn’t even know this was going on.
