Scally was one of the few bright spots. Should be on that plane to Qatar IMO. Probably won't be, though.

And if GGG is intent on passing out of the back, he really needs to bring in Jimmy Sands. The MLS player (since he’s obligated to take those), or at least till recently, who actually won a cup. Ask anyone not from NJ if you were building a team, especially one intent on playing out of the back, would you take Long or Sands?
Though personally he really just needs to take Ream. For the life of me I can’t fathom how he’s gifted a situation where he has a CB and RB who play next to each other on a weekly basis in the EPL and doesn’t take advantage of that. Or would that mean tweaking his precisions system? On that note if we’re intent as a team of ONLY PLAYING ONE WAY, it makes it a tad easy for competent managers to plan against us? No? At this point I’m praying there’s a change of heart when it comes to Pefok, Ream & forcing a round peg into a square hole. If not, I’m just hoping we don’t get blown out by Iran.
Ream should get consideration for the roster as depth. However, the team realistically couldn't start both Ream and ZImmerman due to the lack of pace.
Sands would be valuable for flexibility as he could allow for a switch between 2 ATB and 3 ATB seamlessly. He could also allow for an additional attacker on the roster as he could provide cover for injury at DM and CB. Berhalter, though, seems married to his system, and has to this point not exhibited a williningness to significantly switch formations midgame (tactical changes he makes are usually replacing players in positions and not adjusting the positions themselves). Berhalter also has shown no interest in diverisfying the attacker selection on the roster.
(it also doesn't help that Jimmy was part of two 4 goal routs when Berhalter visited in person before the last break)
Sadly I worry the entire USMNT will be a part of three 4 goal routs in Qatar.

As I saw someone point out on line - it's not that Aaron Long's run was too slow, it's that it started too late. He was unaware of what B. Vasquez was doing until Vasquez was well on his way.

Oh dang, I completely forgot. What are the chances we don't renew Johnson's contract and then he techincally isn't an NYCFC player through the WC? lol
I don't think it's an issue of us renewing. I believe we have no such option and Johnson is a free agent. I also believe MLS contracts usually run 1/1/xx to 12/31/xy. If so, then he's under contract to NYC for the rest of the year and through the World Cup.
Even if his contract is expired, though, I think informally most would consider him a NYCFC player unless and until he signs with someone else.
I think they can, but that doesn't change the answer to your question.
