Am I wrong to feel that it's weird for Sunil Gulati to say anything less than totally supportive of Klinsmann right before a do-or-die match?

U.S. results under Jurgen Klinsmann 'not what we've hoped for' - Gulati http://espnfc.com/united-states/sto...for-says-sunil-gulati?ex_cid=espnapi_internal

I agree it would have been nice to make the Confed Cup (especially after wining Gold Cup #1), or at least make the final in Gold Cup #2, or make the Olympics (Jurgen is Technical Director), but we are a program in transition with a ton of youth coming up through the ranks (accept for keeper ironically). There will be some growing pains. I'm not happy either about the last year of US Soccer, but I'm willing to give him till Russia to see how we've grown.

Matta was good. Wish he could make more of those with us but lately I feel like PV has been more reluctant to unleash him due to us being wrecked otherwise.

Disagree Adam. Hamid and Horvath are studs. Horvath started champions league matches this year at 20 years old.

The best baddest news of the day was to come home and find out that The Good Ol' USA was ahead (2- nil .)
The Ticos are a tough bunch but finally our boys showed the world we stand united .

Oley, OLEY , OLEY.

Costa Rica's last game is Saturday the 11th. If the US (and Colombia, duh) advance, we could have Mata back for the Open Cup on Wednesday the 15th (if Vieira chooses to play him). Definitely playing on Saturday versus the Union.

Had to drive my mother to Yonkers last night during the game. Was disappointed to find it wasn't on the Sirius Soccer station. Does anyone know if this -- and other Copa games -- are on radio anywhere? I punched in a few of the local sports stations and think I maybe found it in Spanish on one of tham but that did me no good, and I'm noot even sure that's what it was.

PS: Siri was useless. Couldn't even give me the score, and was unable to find any USMNT games since March 29.

No clue why Zardes starts. He's a hot mess. I put that decision up there with Giovinco not starting (or even being chosen) for the Euros.

That's what happens when you're put out of your normal position. I do wonder though what value he brings. Doesn't seem to have a major impact on the game. Loses the ball easily, doesn't make effective runs.

I also imagine giovinco is cap tied right? If not get that man a US passport. Both him and big apple jack.

I'm no Zardes fan, but he absolutely makes effective runs. Its one of his few good qualities. The unfortunate part is his first touch is Khiry-bad and he is dis-possessed often.

That's my feeling too. And it looks even worse when contrasted with watching Pulisic on the ball. If you favor defense and tracking back, then I guess Zardes is your man, but he takes away so much of what we want to do on the offensive end to create chances and maintain possession; that one could argue that makes him more of a liability then an asset when measuring the whole. That and all of our bias to see Pulisic get a damn start. Let the kid play!
