I know that everyone hates bad beat stories, but, man, I just gave away my share of first place this week. I had my team set for days as usual. A few minutes before lineups locked, my 5 year old was hysterical about something and my wife couldn't calm him down. The only thing that worked was my offering him to help me finalize my fantasy team (I was planning on checking it anyway just to confirm that players were starting etc.) He always loves looking at my team, but I never change it, even when he complains that I don't have enough (or any) NYCFC players. As usual, he complained about the lack of NYCFC players (this time over his tears) and told me to put in Villa or Jack. For some reason, given the moment and the circumstances, I complied and told him that I would add Villa (I rationalized that it wasn't the worst idea, even though I had no interest in playing him this week). The easiest quick fix with time running out was Villa for Lodeiro because their salaries matched, so I made the move. And I was certain, that it was going to somehow end up being the difference. Yup, I lost by 4 (I believe) and the difference between Villa and Lodeiro was 5 (I believe). I guess I took one for the fam here. Oh well. Congrats to the champ.
sorry mate, if it makes you feel any better I half assed my lineup and made villa the cap for our match even though the game was away, his (and the teams) form is shit, and I knew NE were tough at home. Given any proper thought the obvious cap this week was valeri, maybe would have gone lodeiro or possibly even nikolic, so yea, it was a dramatic bad beat, but only because I sped through the team selection. I tried my best to not roll over and die like most 6-18th cause if i was fighting for first and my opponents was handed cheap wins late in the season I'd be annoyed. And coming off an international break with a funky lineup last week this would have been a perfect set up for a walk over, so like i said i sped through the set up, but didn't intend for it to be so close.

So with 1 week left, 1st and 2nd place are already secured.

1st. Sabo Sabo has a 100+ point differential over 2nd.
I'm guessing the tiebreakers is wins then total points (similar to MLS).
2nd. JayH JayH. I could tie with points, but I could not makeup the number of wins.
3rd. Fight between me and Jack Jack. I have a one point lead so I'm just like NYCFC this week.
And 169 points less than me :rage:

P.S. is there loot for 3rd? Or are we fighting for top 3 bragging rights?

Let’s start a tradition of post fantasy season drinks/dinner for as many as can make it into the city one night.

Maybe our continuing incentive for the cellar dwellers next season is we designate some penalty for the bottom treating for some part of the celebratory event (for example, the bottom three cover the booze).

You should be proud of that one. Going with Villa who looks healthy again vs a Revs team was as likely to get a goal as just about any forward. It was a good bet that didn't pan out and its always better to win with NYCFC than not. I don't usually pick our boys when we are away, but I spent the whole season refusing to pick anyone playing against us (maybe a couple of exceptions with DGWs).

Unless I lose this week, it won't make a difference whether you went with Villa or not because total points is the tiebreaker in H2H leagues. If it doesn't make a difference its always better to go with the Captain.

I would definitely try to make it down to the City for a league meet-up. Might be best to do it after we win the MLS Cup in December.

Am I bottom 3? Just curious if I should show up or not

I did what NYCFC could not do today. That being said, we both stayed in our place coming into today.

3rd Place! $100!

Thanks for a great season everyone. H2H is unpredictable. From 8th last year to 1st this year.

Adam, thanks for organizing. Garbowski thanks for being Treasurer.
Thanks for taking the reigns at the end! It's nice when a league is a team effort all around. Great season everyone!!!

If you want to pass the Commissioner baton for 2018, just let me know. I have more free time now that my kids are older.

Let's play it by ear till next season. Things may calm down dramatically on my personal end by that time.
