Don't know why those nutcases think FIFA cares about anything other than money.
It was the CAS that ruled on it, so pretty neutral party.

A bagman would have had to be sent to persuade FIFA before it went to CAS.

Nah I understand that, but these pro rel nuts main argument was how FIFA requires pro rel in all of league systems for their members.
technically no, its is suggested but does not actually say its a requirement.

I can think of a few other MLS teams whose names would improve with a similar lawsuit.
It’s amusing this happened because Real Madrid never felt threatened by Salt Lake borrowing their moniker, and they probably would have a stronger case if pursued. Inter must have serious self-image issues & paranoia to think an MLS club would be mistaken with their brand.

Nah, I don't think the Real one would be stronger in any regard - there are plenty of 'Real' teams, especially in Spain (Real Sociedad, Real Betis) etc..

I think Real, Sporting, and FC are safe, because of a combination of diluted usage and the words being rather generic. Inter Milan's claim is stronger IMO because "inter" is not even a word, but a shorthand for a word, and the shorthand is not generally used outside of the context of the club in Milan.

Been visiting my parents down in Del Ray beach since Wednesday finally flying back up north tomorrow . My dad still gets a physical newspaper and the sun sentinel down here actually gives inter Miami a lot of coverage guess Miami only has one team per sport but little jealous .

I don't think so. While there isn't as many Inters as Real, there are still quite a few.

Apparently the dispute isn't over the name Inter Miami, but rather Inter Milan not wanting Inter Miami to market themselves as simply Inter.
