I only got to see the second one, then switched over to USA v Sweden at the half. I was shocked when the FT scoreline for SUI v ECU came up. Must have been a crazy second half.
Has there ever been a streaker at the women's World Cup? I'm going to Brazil-Spain tomorrow. Maybe I should paint NYCFC on my body.
Jill Ellis is an awful coach. Her strategy appears to be nothing more than hoof the ball up field and hope we get on the end of it before it goes over the line for a goal kick. Oh, and pray that Rapino does something marvelous or gets lucky.
What has her strategy led to? The most unconvincing 3-1 win of all time and a lousy 0-0 draw. Neither one of these games was against top world competition... Despite all this we're top of the group on 4 points.

FOX is a terrible network. Apparently truck racing is more important than seeing Alexi Lalas on World Cup Tonight. That has been cancelled apparently because there was a rain delay in a truck race. Not NASCAR, not D2 NASCAR, truck racing. Also the USA U20 in the quarterfinals has been moved to FS2 which has a terrible image on my tv. Fuck Fox. Fuck Joe Buck.
Great result for England yesterday. They looked under the cosh for a while, at least in that they were labouring to make their possession count, but two very nice goals sealed the points, and really changed the dynamic of the game. Finished at a canter, excepting the brief splutter of fight from Mexico when they stole a late consolation right before injury time.
England didn't spend much of their offensive possession hoofing the ball hopelessly up field! They kept possession nicely which allowed them to tire out Mexico's defense and get in on goal. Greenwood was a firecracker off the bench. If she had started this game England might have scored a few more goals. She was all over the field!
Mexico on the other hand failed to get numbers forward on the attack. They hoofed the ball upfield to their striker who lost just about every header because of her height. However, on the few occasions when they did get numbers forward on the attack they looked pretty dangerous.
I want to see the US score at least 5 goals against Nigeria today and keep a clean sheet. Really get the hype going into the Round of 16.
I would like to see more than the 1 (hopefully more than 2) goals against Nigeria today.
1-0 final score. U.S. Wins group D and advances to the round of 16. They'll most likely play in Edmonton on Saturday.
Australia tied Sweden 1-1 to ensure second place in Group D.
Sweden now has to wait and see if they get to advance on a 3rd place spot. I have no idea how they decide which 3rd place team advances.

I was pretty underwhelmed by *both* teams in the USA v Nigeria match. I expected Nigeria to be far more aggressive, given this was a must-win match for them, and for the US to be far less sloppy.
Loved seeing Alex Morgan start and the intensity with which she played. The Rapinoe Show was on again, but lacked a little oomph. Might rather have seen Press come on than Leroux.

6. The two teams finishing first and second in each group and the four best teams among those ranked third qualify for the round of 16.
7. The four best teams among those ranked third will be determined as follows:
a) greater number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference resulting from all group matches;
c) greater number of goals scored in all group matches;
d) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.
