Perfect - business development meeting with Kjbert in Chicago, I am all set.

All kidding aside, I was supposed to be there March 1-3 visiting clients. I don't know if you are able to make plans, but if you do head out, I'll buy you a beer.

Very cool. Will see if I can make it happen.

Early march in Chicago CCCCOOOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDD!
Early march in NYC at 5pm. COOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDD!

Might as well play all winter if you are not even going to try to keep the early games reasonable.
Unless a team is in the south or California, until it hits May, all home games should be at noon.... These nighttime games in the dark may be great for TV slots, but I like the feeling in my toes and fingers, and beers sales plummet when everybody is scrambling for hot chocolate. Now if they'd sell hot toddies by the mug, I'd be all over that and wouldn't care if it's a noon or a 9pm kick-off.

In the Opening Week they did what they could. 8 of the 10 games are in the southern half of the team locations plus Pacific Northwest, which is moderately temperate compared to the midwest and northeast. The remaining 2 games are Red Bulls opening at home as Supporter Shield Winners and Chicago. But in Week 2 they gave every road team a home game except DC, Philly (both Week 3) and Toronto (Week 12 because more renovations).

That's why I was somewhat surprised our home opener is against Toronto. You know game #1 is going to bring in 40K+ no matter who we're playing, so why not bring in a Colorado, RSL or any team that's not going to be a primo draw during the summer?

And if anyone is interested, Orlando's home opener will be against RSL and the NJRB will open against Toronto too. Kind of weird that Toronto opens in Harrison on the 6th and then has to fly back the following week to play us. I think they're getting screwed again because of stadium renovations like the start of last seasons.

Here's some more info for anyone who may be interested: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...-6-league-announces-home-openers-all-20-clubs

Because this is going to be the 5 PM match for MLS Soccer Sunday broadcasted on ESPN. This will be the 3rd match between NYCFC and Toronto to be on ESPN (previously on Sunday 4-4 and Wednesday 2-0). Ratings, ratings, ratings. Pirlo, Lampard, Villa, Mix, Poku vs. Bradley, Jozy, and SebaG.

I don't like that if we play them three times this year it will be home, away, away. Or maybe we won't play them three times and play another eastern conference team three times? Who knows until the full schedule comes out?

FWIW, last year Toronto was the only one of our 6 3-game sets where the single game was not in the middle:

Toronto AHH
NE HAH
Montreal HAH
RB AHA
Orl AHA
PHI AHA

So I do think that's the preference, but it's not required. With Toronto's schedule being so messed up again with no home games until week 12 I could easily see us going there twice later in the season.

The only things I am reasonably certain of is (1) we will flip home and away with all West Conference teams and (2) we will have 3 games against Chicago, Columbus and DC. We played each twice last year.

ETA: It's also a fair bet we will again have 3 games against RB and Orlando, but that's a notch lower on my certainty scale than the items above.

why? are they still doing work on their stadium

All I know is that we better have three games against RB with 2 of them at home. That's a definite sell-out and money maker if you can't go and have to sell your tickets.

I can't wait until there are 24 teams in the league so we don't have to guess home and away for conference matches. If MLS keeps the playoff format the same, and the regular season for that matter, home and away eastern conference games with either a home or away western conference game.

Downside, only playing New Jersey twice during the year.

Quite true. As a STH for the Giants, I should realize that at this stage there isn't a league around that isn't going to accommodate tv first and foremost and everything else be damned. I guess that's just the nature of the beast nowadays.

They did not mention TV in the announcement. My guess is that they have not decided if they will flip fox and ESPN's slots, or they have not determined between the mother ship and the deuce.
