We talked about this a while back - I think one of the arguments was that if they have limited production capacity, MLS jerseys may not be the highest priority item, especially considering the season start date and the broader appeal of other items.

My mom wanted to get my son a jersey for Christmas. So, I wrapped up a picture of the new jersey for him and said we’d biy it when it’s released.
I think this is probably true. Have one more holiday season to move the old jersey before the discount.
Both could be done. Retailers could discount the old and the new could be full price and each would have their own audience of buyers; somebody looking for a $30 jersey is not going to all of a sudden pony up for the $120-150 jersey if that’s not in their range - there’s a reason they waited all year rather than buying the old at full price 2-10 months earlier.
I would actually put releasing Tmac over that.
I know wallace’s salary was higher, but considering that Tmac was from NY and has somewhat of a cult following, releasing him took a bit more balls from the FO than releasing Wallace, who I haven’t seen one person anywhere want kept.
Walking through Marrakech in Morocco this winter, 6 or 7 locals yelled out "NYCFC!" or "David Villa!" to me. Made me feel at home.

Even a "we are working hard" nothing soundbite would be better than literally nothing regarding acquisitions. Yes it would be meaningless in and of itself, but would at least acknowledge fan sentiment. Sometimes I wonder if our FO has nerve endings.
The entire business model is void of a concerted fan integration module. They operate like a private B2B company rather than a B2C. That may fly in despot/monarch countries, but it’s shortsighted in the rest of the consumer world, and especially in NYC where STH sales have plummeted and they’re tediously holding on to the last steadfast supporters
Who then would be the consumer if not the paying customer?
I could be convinced of a number of conspiracies. But if you think the team is just part of a complex web of cost shenanigans, then the C would be Man City Supporters and Pep Guardiola.
