Possible, but hardly a terrible decision. Doing so allows for another shot at a player better suited when the big leagues around the world are between seasons which boosts the available players out of contract or teams willing to part for the right price.

In the 10451 zip code maybe. Everywhere else Vela is and will be running away with it barring a catastrophe. Vela has more goals than Maxi has Goals Plus Assists and his team is making a joke of the league.
This goes back to the same thing we talked about last time though... Let's wait to see what happens to LAFC when Vela's not playing. That determines real MVP imo. If he's not playing and they're still ripping the league apart, then he's not the MVP.

No, but he was on the bench for a couple of other games when we were short of a regular, full 18. I wonder if he was left off Sunday as a courtesy to him and Memphis because he was going back. I realize the odds of him both seeing the field and then getting hurt were barely de minimis, but that might just be the way to do things.
I wonder if making the 18 is some sort of contract item triggering a bonus/raise after x-number of matches.
That is the definition of MVP....That no person in any sport uses.
after a quick google search I find that I've wrongly defined MVP for my whole life. In my head, and how I've been told (since i was a child... guess everyone who told me was wrong...) is that the MVP is the person on a team (or in a league) that without that player, the team would not survive. (or in case of league, whoever is the most most important from all the teams)
Interesting, I wonder where the concept originated? As in, what was the first instance it was used in.
