His comments about the academy and the process were so off, it confirmed he was making things up, and it was funny seeing AC call him out (also probably having no idea it is a kid just spitballing stuff).

i actually trust what Carrizo Sr. said. considering he has no issue calling out the USYNT, im sure he would have no problem in calling out nycfc as well, if something was upsetting him.

I don’t mind his sharing the info. The holding himself out as an insider and his over the top teasers and breaking news exclamations are somewhere between annoying and funny. His constant fighting with others who take offense to his tweets is definitely funny.

ha. i don't follow the kid so i don't know about his fighting tweets. but if he wants to spread rumors that he's found online, more power to him. can't hate the hustle. and he's trying to brand himself... i can't exactly hate on that either. but i can understand why people would/could get annoyed by it.

I’d actually say the whole conversation on other thread about how Magno doesn’t press hard when Santi and Gabby do is a pretty good example of coaching influence. I think Segal may be our top goals/90 player and continues to get very little time. Our false 9 experiments continue to fail to find offensive punch. We have no speedy counterattack despite having lots of quick feet on the team.

There are lots of reasons Cushing is hamstrung. But I also think there are plenty of areas where I’d expect to see coaching make a difference. We’d at least be trying new things, failing in new ways. But this team looks very similar week in, week out.

That’s the case. Don’t expect agreement. But that’s it.

Magno is higher in the food chain than Nick.

I respect he is a golden boy nominee - but here is another example of us buying a growth asset and not a proven commodity.

Fucking sucks balls
Yeah it's not just about wanting to stop taking risks, I also feel like we need some veteran leadership up front. Ledezma, Perreira, Magno, Santi, Segal, all 23 or younger. They need an experienced guy up there who can show them the ropes, even if he doesn't have as much raw talent or potential as they do.

With that said, going from no striker to golden boy nominee would be quite a swing.

As for NYCFC source, I thought it was kind of nice that he would go scrape the Internet for me, so it’s a nice resource.

Still, I stopped following after he, once again, posted harsh criticism of Keaton Parks. The fact that Parks later scored in the game and that ASA’s goal+ system rated it one of the best midfield performances of the season only confirmed my decision.

As for NYCFC source. . . . .
Speaking of which, he was at it again today.

He backed away from one of his amazing signings that was coming our way when he tweeted the club that owns the rights to one of those 19 year olds refuses to sell him to NYCFC. "But don't worry he was only a depth signing and new signings were already lined up. . . . more tomorrow!"

I just blocked him. :D

web:
Monsef Bakrar is moving to MLS! More precisely, the Algerian striker will become a member of FC New York City, the eleventh ranked team of the Eastern Conference of the American Professional League! The championship there is in full swing (February-October). FC New York City is a club that belongs to the City Football Group, an investment group from Abu Dhabi, which, along with a dozen clubs around the world, also owns Manchester City

Although Matija Frigan was mentioned as a possible reinforcement of New York City FC , it is obvious that Bakrar was a cheaper and more acceptable option for the Americans at this time.

It’s funny, in a horrific sort of way, but it’s also speculation.

We do need some depth behind Segal.

We do need some depth behind Segal.

Segal works hard. But his quality and soccer iq is far behind the others in the attack. So sometimes his being a step or three behind kills our attack.

Hopefully whoever we sign has all three qualities.

thats not happening, we dont have a DP spot open. i dont think we can bring down anyone to TAM, unless you sell talles or thiago martins.

EDIT: plus PSV and Stuttgart knocking on the door too i dont think he picks nycfc over them even if there was an open DP spot.

If rumors are true and there is supposed interest from us, then they probably have a way to get it done.

Depends I guess on how much TAM NYCFC has and what the fee was to bring Santi in, but couldn't they buy him down?

Let's say his fee was at $5m, over a 5 year contract, that's $1m/year. He's at $1.3m in guaranteed comp, so $2.3m for the year. If the club has $1.7m in TAM, they should be able to buy him down.

All MLS teams were given $2.7m in TAM for the 2023 season.

GAM could also be used to reduce a salary budget charge by up to 50%. Each MLS team was given $1.6m in GAM in 2022 and I imagine that has increased for 2023. That does not include unused GAM from prior years or GAM acquired from other teams.

There's a whole ton of unknowns, but with the lack of other moves the club has made and the club's acquisition of GAM from the Heber trade, almost certain sale of Taty, etc., I imagine there's enough funny money laying around to make a move like this.
