Arezo just appeared with Grenada today off the bench, which would probably be an indication the transfer isn't nearly as close as the report made it appear. If it were close, he wouldn't have played.

Yep, CB depth desperately needed and I haven't seen any rumors on additions there while there have been some more on the attacking side. How are we feeling about our current roster? Updated for Wolf addition and and Mizell departure:

To me, it looks like we still desperately need some more depth at CB and at least one more high-caliber attacking player.
I just saw the tweet and was wondering how a signing could have happened that hasn't been talked about for weeks on here before being announced. I was likeFinally a signing.

I wonder if we try again in the summer. I could see a scenario in which Granada is more likely to move him in their offseason. Not the best idea for us, but if the player is good it's worth it.
Hopefully we still get the other kid from Man City if that's still happening.
If the reporting is accurate we tried to get Arezo last season and just failed to close the deal again and it wasn't clear from the reporting if Granada killed the deal or if we didn't meet his wage demands. Waiting for another window in hopes that it somehow works out after striking out twice already seems crazy to me unless they have a solid indication that the chances they can get him in the next window are high.
Only going after players in a certain age bracket and getting tunnel vision on certain players that don't work out is how we ended up going nearly an entire season without a striker. Lee needs to get someone now. Bakrar is decent and puts us in a better place than we started last season but Segal is a fringe MLS player who would not see time on most MLS rosters. At a minimum we need a backup in case Bakrar goes down and someone who can sub on late in games when we are chasing a goal.
I agree. In fact I think we should get someone better than Bakrar, layer over him and make him the option off the bench.
He could be the guy. He's the right age, anyway. And he's out of contract at the end of the year, so he'd be a perfect candidate to lock in on a three-year with an option.Looks like we could be filling that third CB role we've been waiting on.

It's starting to come together. And now I'm really starting to get excited. We may not be the Beast of the East but we can sure raise some hell. And once we're into the playoffs, anything can happen.
Let's effin' GO.
This sounds right to me, although I'd set the range a notch higher: 3-5 in the East.I think right now I'm thinking we're somewhere in the 4-6 range in the East.

And as much as I like Nick and think he's the right guy for our gaffer, I must agree his tushy will start to get toasty if this campaign starts to look like last season. I don't think that will happen -- last year was downright freaky -- but there's no guarantee. As much as we've turned it around on paper, the squad still has to gel, and the players still have to perform. Not to mention, stay healthy.
But it's good to at least see the team operating with such a clearly defined plan. I'm of the opinion they had this in mind all along and just couldn't execute it. We all know MLS can be tough to navigate at any time; it must be hellish when you've decided to flip the table over and rebuild your roster. I suspect we were just too constrained by the rules and couldn't do as much as we wanted to do as quickly as we wanted to do it.
We made it through, though. I like what I see. We're going to be fun to watch.
