2025 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

26 yr old koko muani is getting no love at PSG. can we get him? french international forward. who knows if he wants to come to MLS (probably not), considering he's got options at other euro clubs.. but maybe lee can make some magic happen?

Muani would be incredible. In a similar vein I was also looking at Timo Werner the other day. 28 years old, struggled a bit in the PL but I think he would be great in MLS. Hopefully his red bull connections don't land him in NJ.

werner would probably be more doable than muani. werner seems to struggle everywhere he goes except redbull in germany. i could see him taking an offer to MLS, but to be honest, i don't think i want him. if we complain about bakrar missing the mark, i don't think we could handle a high priced signing like werner missing the target time and time again and that seems to be his problem when ever he's played in the PL.

We traded up from 24 to 17 to take Vermont's Max Murray.

Interesting player -- started the season at striker, the moved to CB where he shined. I'll be interested to see where NYCFC values him.

oh boy. another forward turned defender for us... we just love those.

Loan to FC St Pauli through June with option to extend to the 25/26 season. NYC contract extended to Dec 2028.

FCSP has a unique culture, wonder what he’ll make of it. They’re currently 14th, hopo they stay up!

Yeah, if they are relegated, he’s coming back. Probably.

Not happy with the team choice (I really don't like St Pauli) but I hope he'll get a good chance here! Bundesliga quality is a lot higher than SPL, and let's also not forget that he gets to face Scally at some point this season ;)

I really thought havings Sands and Parks on the pitch at the same time made them both worse, but especially Parks. I love both players and they are both club legends, but I thought one had to go, just to unlock our full potential. I had preferred to keep Sands because he really got his mojo back this past season, but he also had more value and eagerness to go back to Europe given his age.

Parks had an overall "meh" 2024 season. Hopefully an off season, more time to adjust to balancing fatherhood, and less crowding of his space on the pitch leads to a resurgent Keaton for 2025!

Edit: As always, my assessments are made solely based upon my eye tests. Typically, it seems the xStats differ from my assessments so I'm sure Mark will come along and show that we were dramatically better with them both on the pitch!

Had a feeling this was coming when Sands gave that quote at the end of the season about how he "loved" playing here. Great for him, and great for us in the long run. Thrilled for him to play Bundesliga football, and to do it at such a famous club is cool.

We still have Parks and Perea for those defensive/central midfield roles so I think we'll be fine. Even though it's a half-season loan, I think we can still make a move to acquire a player to replace him. I wonder if the condition on the loan is tied to relegation.

I'm glad he is getting his chance to play in europe again and in the bundesliga at that. It's a shame it's only a 6 month loan though and while they can extend, didn't see anything about options to purchase? Most important thing though, is I hope he gets solid playing time. Unlikely he's going there to be a shoe in starter midway through the season, but would be nice if they see what he's got with some playing time and training, extend his loan, and we see him starting in the 25-26 season.

No Sands in 2025.

Sands covers up a lot of defensive mistakes on the left side of our defense, it's going to be a big hole to fill. I predict people will complain about defensive issues of our LB and LCB next season without realizing that Sands was hiding their deficiencies.

The problem is Parks doesn't defend, he has one of the lowest attempted tackle rates on the team. That was fine next to Sands, not sure Perea is giving him that level of cover.
