2025 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

Yup I think it’s critical that Sands gets replaced. Neither Parks nor Perea can and/or will do what he did. Maybe Perea but then you lose what he can give you further up and it’s not his optimal position.Otherwise this will be a big miss.

question is, does Haak step in or does the new coach think a parks & perea combo is better? for me, parks is on there for ball control but when he's not doing it or failing at doing it, he's pretty much a liability. when he's on, he's one of the best ball progressers in the league. Perea seems more of a true 8 with lots of attacking runs but has the athleticism to do some defending.

If parks could play that busquets role and pick out passes as a holding midfielder, that would be ideal. let perea or haak run into the attack. but i don't think that's the way Parks wants to play and we all know his defensive mindset isn't as strong as either of the other two.

will be interesting to see what the new coach decides on. maybe he brings in a new guy all together and blows everything up. will also be interesting to see who takes over at the left CB, especially if Risa continues with his injuries.

There was a rumor in November that Besard Sabovic, a 26-year-old central/defensive midfielder was a target. He is out of contract as of today, so maybe that's something we see get across the finish line in the coming days.

I'd like to see Haak start the season as the starting LCB next to Martins. By the end of the playoffs Haak was playing well in the CB role after getting his first set of consistent starts at CB in his career, he's better than Risa defensively and his ability to carry the ball forward provides a lot of options.

Yeah. Haak feels like a great long term solution for us at LCB. I hope he stays there he was bossing that position at the end of the season.

Also just remembered we drafted one of the best CBs in college soccer.

I know people are high on Max Murray but my money would be on him spending most of his playing time next season with NYCFC II. Super draft picks tend to be pretty raw and CBs tend to take more development time in general than other positions.

Heard this spring that letting Sands leave this window was a condition of the extension he signed when he came back from Rangers. So when you put together the comments he made at the end of the season and NYCFC rumored being in for that CDM this fall, it was not surprising.
Oh yeah Sands leaving was probably inevitable , but there was nothing about team and timing.

Roberto on the podcast with Glenn Crooks said "From everything we've heard" Maxi is coming back and that both he and the team want a reunion. So that would appear to be at least light corroboration to the report I posted above.

That's around 33:00 on this video:

Brandon Vazquez is leaving LigaMX and looks to be headed back to MLS.
At first he was linked to San Diego, but now I'm seeing Austin is looking to open up negotiations.
Hey Intern, please feel free to forward this to whomever is in charge.

Potentially might be an issue we need to keep an eye on. Hopefully the pedestrian will be OK.

Upon first reading of the article, it sounds like maybe Jovan isn't necessarily to blame, and thankfully was not drunk.

Further, Blic reports that the pedestrian and her companion "ran into the street outside the pedestrian crossing," and it is unclear if they had been drinking. The accident took place at 8:10 pm local time on Saturday, January 4.

Agreed, though many details are undetermined. But also, Jovan is seeming to be the type of person to whom bad things manage to happen around without ever somehow being his fault.
