I contain generational multitudes.can't tell if using "mid" like a gen Zer or abbreviating "middle"... or both?
Honestly I thought the term escaped youth slang and was pretty mainstream. To me it's short for middling.
No cap. Bet.

In the end-of-season comments, Lee said that he feels the roster is strong. I took that to mean minimal changes. Assuming things stay the same a lot is riding on the next coach to get more out of this roster than Cushing did. Personally, I think Cushing squeezed more wins out of this team than people realize and it's going to be tough for the next coach to match or improve our results as the roster currently stands.
Like I understand the logic if you’re fearing another Gio Reyna situation. But honestly I going to bet most of these guys are more likely to be in the range of Sands to Tayvon or below. Hopefully you get a Scally, but I just think don’t think a Reyna is happening all that often. Poor reaction judgement by Lee I would think. The only way I’d sympathize with Lee is if these guys told Lee they were going to walk if they didn’t get big boy contracts. Which in that case he took a risk that they will break out one daywe filled much of our roster with talent cushing simply didn't use or very infrequently relied on.
there are II squad regulars like maximo, shore, balera, yanez, rando, and romero. with barraza gone, which of rando and romero makes the jump to the #2 spot? not sure as i know nothing about either of them.
that's 6 roster spots of players we simply never use. i think building a good roster means having a good balance of youth to develop, but also solid players that push each other at the various positions and make everyone better. i think lee failed on this.
did we really need to sign them all to first team contracts? did lee jump the gun? we were super worried that they would go somewhere else if we hadn't tied them down so we don't have another gio situation? i really don't know, but that's a lot of roster spots for guys who almost never make the bench unless others are injured.

Well a full season of Alonso at striker tooHey NYCFC fans, who are our new players for 2025? It's the ones we already have but didn't get to play enough.
With how few players moved on, we simply don't have the roster spaces to add a lot of guys. We're either resigning Maxi or getting a replacement for him. Barring any guys we sell, there just isn't room on the roster. You're limited to 30 players in MLS (not including players out on loan) and we have 26 players contracted after Barraza's departure.
That's to say nothing of the salary cap, which I have no idea where we stand there. There just isn't a lot of room for additions.
The Maxi situation is concerning. We were completely dependent on him down the stretch to make our offense go. Even if he comes back, it's hard to imagine him being a full-time starter for the entire season at age 38.

It's not just Gio, but also Polvara. So just making sure that the team receives some form of compensation, and compensation that can positively affect the cap situation if they were to go elsewhere instead of just losing them without receiving anything.did we really need to sign them all to first team contracts? did lee jump the gun? we were super worried that they would go somewhere else if we hadn't tied them down so we don't have another gio situation? i really don't know, but that's a lot of roster spots for guys who almost never make the bench unless others are injured.
And these guys are all really good...Carrizo, shore, bariera are all top tier prospects. They all were also on season long loans to the IIs so they didn't really count at all in terms of roster numbers. It's not just Gio, but also Polvara. Is this because of our homegrown claim?Prince Amponsah is not on the draft eligible list. Arguably the best left footed CB in college and would have been a top 10 pick.
21st out of however many teams there are this yearMLS has released GAM figures for each club. I haven’t sorted this but I think we’re on the low end.
