2025 Roster and Transfer Discussion Thread

“Aiden is a player we’ve followed for a while. We’re confident he’ll be a strong addition to the team,” Lee added. “He adds depth and flexibility to our roster as we begin to build the team around Pascal’s vision [italics mine].”

Interesting statement.

depth and flexibility is Lee's go to roster building words. he says it constantly.

I was talking about the italicized part. Begin to build? Pascal's vision?
Those are just his best and really only available excuses. I take no meaning or solace from them. Oh good. We began to build on the last day of the primary transfer window and now will carry a grossly incomplete roster for 70% of the season.
Even if he believes this and did it on purpose its a massive failure to be in this position for the second time in three years.

If this was the plan the plan is bad.

Right. What about Nick's vision for the squad? I don't recall ever hearing anything about that in terms of roster building, and he's our longest-tenured manager.

That being said, I'm glad Pascal has that kind of support and isn't going to be stuck with a roster he doesn't like. Or can't work with. As usual, I'm looking at the bright side: he's our guy through the stadium opening, at least, and we're out to snag some silverware between now and the end of the 2027 campaign.

But damn, this is frustrating sometimes.

Gonna have a piece up soon on The Outfield but this does seem like a great fit for what pascal wants at the 6.

Lee's been talking about Pascal's vision since training camp. It was the first excuse for waiting to sign people. They talked about Nick being part of shaping the team too. I think it's more generic sound bite that significant shift in philosophy.

Primary Transfer Window: Closed.

Aiden O'Neill. Not yet announced. Taking it slow to announce or did the paperwork not get done in time.

Doyle gives David Lee a grade of D. Don't know how this isn't an F.

Got $17 mil for Santi and bringing in Sands replacement brings it up to a D.

But still, that is generous grading.

In my question I didn't count him, as I only counted players who have made the field. Assuming O'Neill actually plays, that will mean officially 432 days between signings that played a minute for the club.
I certainly didn't remember him, I just had to back off the intended 'NYCFC is the only team to have signed literally no one' post the transfer tracker made me want to write

If we were following this player for a long time as quoted by Lee (seemingly before Pascal was in place as coach maybe?) then why did we wait until the last possible moment to sign him? He could have been at preseason, could have at least been in NYC and training by the end of the window. This was basically the one signing of the window how do you let it drag on for that long??
