Away - 03/08 Orlando City SC

Only 28 tickets sold ?

The thing is, a trip from New York to Orlando is roughly the same distance as from Rome to Paris. Plane tickets cost $200 to $400 a piece. I expect we'll use more than 28 tickets, but it's not something that thousands of supporters can afford to do en masse.

Or Berlin to Madrid... A simple/relevant analogy would have been 'Orlando is a little more difficult than an amtrak to Philly.'

29 now...
And I'm either buying 4 or 6 so that will go up to atleast 33/35.

I am know that the distance is 1750 km, but it will be the historical debut........
Still very difficult because even ignoring the fact planes can be expensive, you would have to factor in that they would need a place to stay (hotels in Orlando aren't cheap) and would have to take atleast one day, probably more, off from work.
I get that it's the historical debut- I am actually going along with a few friends and some family. But I don't think it's fair to expect a ton of fans to go to a game for a team that hasn't even kicked a ball yet in their first season in a culture that doesn't entirely embrace soccer 100% yet. The time will come soon enough though, I am confident.

You realize the Orlando fans are postively postive, bet on their mothers grave and sell their soul if their wrong-sure that it will sell out, 2 months before the game, right?

They could sell more to other team supporters that are playing in the tournament, especially if it's the first game NYCFC have ever played. Other people might scope it out if they are in town for the whole tournament. I know I would if I were there!

Thinking about it, it's pretty shitty that our first ever game is Orlando. If at least it was DC, we could except a lot more people to go on the trip.
It is warmer in Orlando too. I think MLS wants to take advantage of its southern teams in March. Just unluck of the draw to get Orlando. Why would MLS go out of their way to hurt NYCFC? By all accounts MLS HQ is focused on NYC to the point of hurting the league. Just ask anyone on Twitter or Facebook.

Has anyone been able to find details on where our away supporters section will be located? The tickets don't state a specific section. Hoping for behind the goal but I have a feeling they may jerk us and put us all the way in a top corner.

What is the consensus meet up for those of us who cannot go to the game? Nevada smiths? Ryan's daughter? Anyone from CT interested in staying local at Anna Liffey's in Fairfield?

they really need a better hashtag than "fill the bowl"

Since most third rail members won't be able to go, I hope they organize a solid viewing party.

We'll definitely have something at Ryans Daughter for those in the area and willing to take transportation to the area.
