I just don't understand the argument for Ring at LW over Taty. If you don't want to start Mitrita there due to defense, ok, I can buy that. But Taty has started there before and shown plenty on D, and offensively.
And in a game where we are just not finishing, and could use some long range shooting ability, why not sub Mitrita in? One sub went unused and Mitrita could have helped. If you don't think so (you being Deila), then why is he on the bench? If what you really want to accomplish with sitting him is to just send a message, then why is he on the bench?
With the exception of the flopping, I’ve always been a Taty fan cause to my eye he has the best shot on the team. 2018 was my first year watching NYCFC and he stood out to me as having range and power.
When Taty did make it onto the pitch against D.C., I was frustrated by what looked like no attempt to get him the ball for a shot from like 16 yards out. We still kept floating the ball into the hands of keeper. But hell yeah he should have been in earlier.
NYCFC still doesn’t deserved to be screwed on ghost hand balls and non hand ball calls.
This team has the ability to shoot itself in the foot Enough times to lose close games we don’t need any help from PRO.

Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread but I need to bring up Keaton's glorious chance that he decided to place on the wrong side of the post. Went for a volley on the top of his foot instead of a side foot into a gaping net and whammo... misses. Need to bury that chance early on. Medina missed a chance just after that, and I feel those were our two biggest chances in the game aside from the wrongly disallowed GMS strike due to the Taty "handball."
would be a nice stat if it also came with a win. Although probably wouldn't have held had we scored in the first half. Its a testament to how negative DC played rather then our defensive prowess (which lets be honest is not all that great in normal situations).
I’m getting more and more furious every time I read “handball” in regards to Taty and the disallowed GMS goal. The refs should be fined for such glaringly obvious errors. An amount that at least cancels out the payoff they are getting from the bookies.
I agree that our defense has hardly been stellar this season, particularly in transition.
Perhaps that’s another reason to be pleased with the game despite the outcome. They were looking to counter, and we gave them nothing. Even where a team bunkers like that, they can still be dangerous - smash and grab and win. There are usually plenty of close calls. These guys didn’t get close.
Now, some of that relates to our choices to lock down the defensive midfield. See James Sands’ comments about progressive passing in that game. Nevertheless, we bossed the game and would have won 2-0 or better with capable officiating.
By the way, one thing that was not worth celebrating was our crossing. I only watched the second half, but it was god fucking awful.

we're not a good crossing team. period. on occasion tinnerholm and mata will hit those driven balls in behind the defense while in transition, but ONLY while in transition. the only one who crosses with any bite to the ball is Isi. His crosses, whether it be from a corner, free kick, or otherwise, are always driven and swerving into a danger area. Really wish both mata and tinny would adopt this style of crossing vs floaters. Driven balls into a danger area can be easily redirected by us or their defense, and the ensuing chaos could result in a goal. Much better than floating balls in that are picked off by the keeper or simply to NOBODY and easily cleared by a CB.
Hmmm... how much would you fine Parks for such a glaringly obvious error? Had he buried it, the outcome would have been different. How crucial and costly the refereeing errors may be, we must live with them. Everyone on the pitch can and may make errors.

or at least PRO should tell the refs to not whistle plays dead so quickly - an AR can let an offside call go for like 10 seconds but blow the whistle for a “handball” and a second later the ball is in the net. Unbelievable.
they have this thing called VAR if they need a second look. Learn how to use it effectively.
The one time GMS played on the left last season, he showed he was a capable crosser, granted that was a limited sample size. But he's been almost exclusively played on the right.
GMS, IMO, is a left-sided winger who stays wide and sends in crosses. He's not at his best on the right, cutting in on his left.

Exactly. That's the part of it that galls me the most. They're supposed to let the play end before blowing the whistle, that way it can go to VAR if it needs to. Just terrible refereeing.
A little bit toungue in cheek but that “handball” was beyond ridiculous. When the ball comes off Taty’s shoulder/chest area I didn’t see all the DC players throw their hands up yelling for a hand ball like players usually react. No one thought it was a handball. and everyone knows that that the way Brilliant positioned himself when the ball hit his hand results in a PK 999 times out of a thousand these days. The one not being called happens in Serie A because of match fixing.
I don’t know about fines but how the heck does something so obvious that shouldn’t be broken get fixed? What the hell is the technology for?
Parks was horrible and he’ll pay the price by never getting back to Europe.

Couldn't agree more with this - see when he played on the left in one of the Florida games and did well, also "scored" in the last game from the left hand side. He does have skill and it's such a part of the modern game to have people cutting inside to shoot, but even when he was at Dundee United, he was brilliant on the left and basically had his moments when the new manager came in and switched up formations, playing him on the right.
