Totally agree. This now provides a landing spot for Hererra. Even on a bottom dweller, he'll be more interested with the few top teams he'd get to play twice a season. Not good for us. Not good for the sport maybe. And it looks like this is part of the reason Pep joined Man City, which bothers me.
Just another reason to be skeptical of the long term commitment of the club. No stadium progress. No transfer budget. Lampard fiasco. Only signing players on frees.

Does Spain have any sort of strict employment rules? No country is as tight as England with eligibility, but even a slight set of hoops to jump through will help us.That's the exact same first reaction I had.
Now, this is assuming that the Herrera deal really wasn't CFG skirting MLS rules. When you listen to Reyna talk about him, it sounds more and more like CFG purchased him for NYCFC to skirt MLS DP rules. The intention was always that he would spend 1-2 years here before being sold by CFG. He was never in Pep's plans.
But in the future, kids like Roberts and Herrera would never come here. They're headed to Spain.
This will have almost zero effect. Man City was already sending their loanees there now there just official partners. Nothing will change.http://www.mcfcwatch.com/2017/06/24...announce-the-purchase-la-liga-club-girona-fc/

Any rebranding for Girona FC?
And what are the implications for Champions League qualifying? We know that if the same group owns two teams the better team in their respective league qualifies. Obviously it's going to be much harder in La Liga than Red Bull does in Austria. Still, something to consider.

So Girona had two CFG kids this season. A GK and RB.
Maybe they'll go around buying clubs in Europe to loan their players to.
So my big question now is has final stay in decisions? Pep's bro and CFG have nearly 50% stakes with the supporters owning a small sliver as well. I don't know the club is organization but the supporters could have a lot of power if there is ever a falling out between the two groups.
