Can we just take a moment to note how absurd it is that this event was not streamed live on Facebook, and that the team still hasn't put out a full video of it? Mark said they'd put out a recap. I don't want a recap, no need to edit something together; just post the video.
When we complain about how the team is run, it's because of stuff like this, where they decide to hold an intimate event and close it off to 95% of the fanbase.
An intimate event is cool if it allows fans to have personal interactions with Villa, but why is the rest of the fanbase being closed off from this event? Grab a camera, plug it into facebook, and stream it live so the rest of us can see it.
It's the same things with the City in the boroughs events they did. Why aren't those on Facebook? Why wasn't the silly award show on Facebook? They do these small events and act as if the majority of the fanbase doesn't want to see it. It's so self-defeating and frustrating.
I think it circles back to their need to control information and the narrative. At the CITB evens I attended, they announced that we could take pictures and write about what happened, but asked that there be no video. They explained they wanted to encourage the panel to be less guarded about what they say. They just don't want any video that they don't control, which precludes live streams. Can we just take a moment to note how absurd it is that this event was not streamed live on Facebook, and that the team still hasn't put out a full video of it? By the way this is an attempt at explanation, not justification.
I mean, what mgarbowski said still applies. It's about control. Your appeal to fairness (forgive me if I'm mischaracterizing your post) might work on a democratic institution, but the club is driven by capital, so I think making a capital-focused argument maybe makes more sense. So certain information is good for some fans but not other fans? Why should some fans get more information and accountability than others? If you're willing to say something to 100 people, you should be willing to say it to 1,000.
Why did only Callens show up? No one else is in NY?
Posted to YouTube now for those who only watch on widgets that support Chromecast

Also, PV appearing in the video I'm sure will tick some people off lol
I'm not even sure it's democratic/capital. Lots of private but non-capital based organizations: clubs, unions, NGOs, universities, whatever, want to control information and will restrict public recording of their operations and semipublic events. Even governments only subject part of their proceedings to sunshine laws.I mean, what mgarbowski still applies. It's about control. If "the majority of the fanbase" really does want to see hours of longform raw footage, it's not reflected in the viewing figures on YouTube. Go and have a look yourself, the full-length press conferences and the fan Q&As with Dome are comfortably and routinely the least-viewed videos - we're talking a few hundred views, tops. I don't know of a single team our size who thinks blanket unedited coverage is worth it for anyone but the most diehard completist/obsessive. Which is why they don't do it.
I sound like a broken record on this one, but if you honestly feel slighted by the fact it took the team 18 hours to put together a 20-minute recap of a fan event that you didn't get an invite to, you're either looking for an excuse to slate the club, or you have serious entitlement issues.
Seeing Villa emotional made me really emotional.
would not be caught dead in camo
I have nothing against camo myself, but does David Villa strike you as a camo guy?Hey now! I may be orange these days, but come on. Did you really have to go there?
I got the impression that this is a guy who doesn’t really want to leave, but that could be me projecting.

Watching this video was just really sad. I got the impression that this is a guy who doesn’t really want to leave, but that could be me projecting.
I did laugh about Villa wanting to take the blazer off right away. He probably thought it was an abomination, and would not be caught dead in camo
