Looks like if we ever host an MLS Cup Final, the club can take our seats away and sell them to the highest bidder or corporation. That's pretty shitty if you ask me. Screenshot 2015-10-16 15.36.57.png

I think that is standard for 1 game championship events. The league needs to allocate tickets to the visiting team, much more than the usual section or 2, plus I bet every team in the league gets some allocation, and then league partners etc have to get theirs. It's not exactly highest bidder in an auction but making good on deals made in advance.

Wonder if it's a bylaw that the League takes control of ticket distribution for the Cup Final? Either way it's a shitty deal indeed.

Don't mean to compare apples to oranges, but we've had season tickets for the Giants in my family since the 1950's and yet had no shot at getting Super Bowl tickets when it was played at Met Life Stadium.

Before moving to California my brother in law had a partial season ticket for the Yankees, yet when the playoffs rolled around they took his seat away and moved him out past the foul pole every year.

Unfortunately, money grubbing has become the way of the world nowadays wheere major sporting events are concerned.

This is why the Super Bowl is played at a neutral city (unless it accidentally isn't). Half the tickets for one team, half the tickets for the other team, and half the tickets for the rest of the world that wants to go to the game as well.

Also, it's standard procedure to move everybody around for playoffs. Let's say you have 20,000 full season ticket plans, then 10,000 Sunday plans, 10,000 Saturday plans, 10,000, weekday plans, 10,000 weekend plans, etc. That's already 60,000 seats, and Citi Field only holds 45,000. That's why everyone gets moved out of their seats, because it's the fairest way to get everyone a shot at at least one game even if they only had a partial plan.

It'd be the same with NYCFC if we have a home playoff game next year, and it'd be even "worse" if we make it to the final. I'd just be happy enough to get inside the stadium, wouldn't be too concerned about getting my same seat.

Remember that MLS Cup was played in a pre-determined site each year until a couple of seasons ago. Just like if we were to ever host a USMNT match, the match will be hosted by MLS, not NYCFC. Therefore they take over ticket rights. Like others have pointed out, many thousands of fans would travel to an MLS Cup match and it's only fair to give them reasonable seats together. Also supporters all over the league also get rights to some tickets. I'm sure all season ticket holders would be granted ticket access, but your seats may not be available.

The way I read it is that you automatically get charged for the playoff round tickets if we make it UNLESS you explicitly opt out. Basically they charge us for the early playoff round tickets whether we want them of not (unless we tell them we don't). The finals tickets are still held for us if we want them but we have to opt in to them. So if, say 2 weeks before the game, we don't opt in to the finals tickets then they sell those too.

Could be reading it wrong though.
