General MLS Discussion

The Game Center on the MLS website used to have 2 options on the Stat page: one for team stats and one for player stats, including things like minutes played, shots, etc, for every player on the game roster. It seems to be gone. Has it moved? Seems an odd thing to remove.

Still there for me. Just moved to further down the page (not sure why they did that). Clicking PLAYERS gives you the usual table for each team with sortable columns. Same as before.

Opening weekend saw every team (aside from seattle, I assume bc of seating restriction?) have higher attendance than their average from 2022. 2023 MLS Attendance - Soccer Stadium Digest

Trying to figure out if that bodes well or not, since i would have to assume opening weekend is more than waht a normal game would bring, and some of these are marginally better than average?

Opening Night is always one of the highest attended games of the year.

Yeah, hence why i'm afraid a bit if the numbers were this... eh. Like dallas did 19k, they averaged 17k last season. That doesn't seem too good...

The more accurate comparison will be comparing 2022 opening day to 2023 opening day. (And because of the pandemic, it might even be more accurate to use 2019 opening day as the comparison.

Thank you. Very odd place to put it. I scanned the entire page and missed it. I don't remember them using Red to differentiate the active and inactive options either, though that could very well be a mistaken memory.

After you switch to the Players stats option that control moves back up to the top of the page. Weird and bad web design. I honestly wonder if the location on the Clubs page moved as part of some other change and they didn't notice or care enough to fix it.

Their fortunate start just might keep them from the wooden spoon but I still think they miss the playoffs.
They're not terribly good, but they are terribly scappy. So far, it's been enough. Over the course of the season it probably won't be.

Still, it's a great story for a great soccer town. And who knows, if they can play well enough to get themselves on the bubble anything can happen in the last few games.

Didn’t FC Dallas have a similar deal with Bayern a few years ago?

Edit: I just saw on reddit Bayern and FC Dallas ended their agreement.

i think it was different. The FC Dallas was the usual deal where they send academy kids to bayern to try out and maybe have some invitations of youth tournaments. Here they made a new entity 50/50 split more of a hub for seems a lot more than that. like scouting for talent etc. we will see if its similar to CFG / RB where you loan players to LAFC or sell to Bayern From LAFC.
