He played there for a long time. And also it's way better of a place in terms of location. Better weather, too.
Better weather sure, Better place ? Toronto is a pretty awesome international city...

Rodolfo Borrell is a Man City assistant who was linked to us as a potential when Vieira left (and maybe again when Torrent quit, though I'm not certain. He now is possibly going to take the DC United job.
Transfer news: Dele to Everton, Man City assistant to MLS
Tottenham and Everton linked to attackers from Mainz and Tottenham? And could Pep Guardiola lose another assistant during in-season, this time to DC United?soccer.nbcsports.com
Makes me sad how little ambition that club has especially with that shiny new stadium.Stephen Goff says the leading candidate in DC is Chris Armas.
I cannot find this news. They're still being called the Impact on the MLS and team websites, and I don't see an announcement of a coming change. I hope they keep the name. The only good thing about FC names is they're not "United."Montreal Impact -> Montreal FC....
should have kept the impact imho... generic names, here we come.

That would be great in theory, but I don't think that there are many, if any, sportswriters that have the kind of creativity and dedication to each individual MLS team to come up with those kind of nicknames. Would we be called the Pigeons if that were the case?I'm in the minority (or silent majority?) that doesn't mind generic names. I was a baseball guy for a long while and romanticized the days when teams would officially be called the Brooklyn Baseball Club and sportswriters would run with nicknames that fit the state of the club -- e.g., the Grays, Bridegrooms, and eventually Dodgers.
Would like to see more of that in MLS, and I see generic names as a canvas for it.
The problem with Montreal is they did this in the wrong order. They are already the Impact and that will stick as the informal nickname crowding out any real organic one. Secondly, the two language situation will hamper things as well, unless something like les bleus or some faux French name gets some traction.I'm in the minority (or silent majority?) that doesn't mind generic names. Yeah it's tough to see which of the forwards Villa beats out.MLS Announces 25 Greatest, Most Influential Players for 25th Anniversary

Can't help but wonder if Villa would have made list but for the recent scandal. OTOH, everyone on the list either won MLS Cup, or played minimum 7-8 years (and many did both).
