The MLS website baffles me with their UX decision making. I understand exactly why this is done from a marketing perspective, but from a purely "league" perspective it makes no sense.
The header nav bar on the MLS website is ordered:
1. Schedule 2. All-Star 3. MLS Season Pass 4. News 5. Standings
This makes it such that if your screen too small to display all of these, the first one to go is standings. Which, idk if y'all agree, is one of the most important links on their website. I then have to click the three dots to bring up a side menu to find the standings.
Now let's look at some other leagues:
Bundesliga
EPL
Serie A is actually somehow worse than mls - though the table and fixtures are available on the front page after scrolling.
As I said above, I understand why All-Star and MLS Season Pass are listed first from a marketing perspective. But I think MLS is shooting themselves in the foot with the way they market the league itself and make it accessible.
One other thing that bugs me is - why do we need, ON THE MLS WEBSITE, every single club world cup and gold cup match? Only put the ones that relate to MLS please, thanks. Club World cup fixtures can be found on
the CWC website. Gold cup fixtures non-US related can be found on
the gold cup website. I'm on the MLS page to see MLS news, not anything else. USMNT being the exception, I think that makes sense.
