Lampard Out? Frank Doing Analysis for Euro 2016 on BBC.

I mean, do big-time fund managers and executives walk around elementary school with a general air of superiority/cockiness/arrogance? I don't mean a little arrogant. I mean, the kind of "I'm giving you the treasure of my presence" that I just couldn't pull off.

No, they do not..

One small step the team could make in being a bit more honest would be to start listing Lampard as out instead of questionable when everyone knows he's out. They list other players as out why is Lampard always left as questionable? He doesn't even make the trip and they still list him as questionable. Does the team/MLS really think being honest about his status is going to hurt single game ticket sales. They act like numerous people are looking at the status and thinking "So you're telling me theres a chance" all dumb and dumber style and then buying tickets they wouldn't otherwise.

Come off it. There's no way to fix this or make this look any better. Frank could come back and score one goal a game for the rest of his career. Fans would cheer, and when he retires, we'd all be glad its over. But the reality is, he's going to come back for 7 games score 2 goals at best and get hurt before announcing retirement. Then we'll all cheer anyway and be glad its all over.

Been thinking about this and I have a theory on how it's going to play out....

Frank's injury and weekly status has morphed into a complete farce to the point that not only fans are mocking it, but also pundits. To simply retire now, after all of this time, would smack in the face the team's and his notion that he's working extremely hard to get back on the field. With all of the time spent with the physio, Frank now has to play a game, even if only one, to justify the 14+ weeks. I'll venture that he's either going to "re-injure" himself in the 1st game back or subsequently right after it, and then after careful consideration and discussion with the team, retire. The recurrence of injury will of course be for PR purposes only - he won't be the second coming of Calle off an injury. But it will show that Lamps was focused and did what was needed to play again, but alas, his body just can't do it. Full of tears, he bids farewell to the sport he loves, retires effective immediately, and heads straight to the airport to fly to London to see his wife (who allegedly refuses to live in NYC) and is local for the Euro coverage.

I'd find much more amusing if he is as fit as he is going to be and he's just not good enough to break the 18 so they just say he's still injured until Vieira puts him in the 18. That would be really awkward trying to explain how your DP at full fitness can't break it as a bench warmer

Don't see that being the case. When he played last year, he was productive. Big if is if he is healthy. The player we saw in limited time last year is better than Mikey Lopez. Can't imagine he's lost the talent in 6 months.

I CAN imagine that he's never going to be healthy enough to crack the 18 ever again. That's where we would agree.

Not to stoke the conspiracy fires, but I looked this morning and George John made at least three injury reports last year (I stopped after finding three, could be more).

Well.... The reports weren't wrong - he was injured - but he just wasn't a member of the team.

I still wonder if that was a revisionist history by MLS and the club? Why would MLS be complacent the entire time and allow the updates if he wasn't on the roster? I think the team did sign him, tried to get him healthy, and when it looked like he was a big lemon, GJ agreed to the notion he was never signed since he was getting valuable rehab, and MLS was then able to "help" it's hopeful flagship club with the now empty cap space. All just a hypothesis from me.

I dunno, I think the idea that there was a signed and filed contract that all three parties (NYCFC, GJ, and MLS) all decided to put in the shredder is an even bigger leap than just NYCFC and GJ pretending they had an agreement when they didn't.

Oh I agree but I'm sure there are ways via clauses and such (signing two contracts at the same time) that if GJ doesn't make X progress by Y date than contract 1 is voided and contract 1b is used.

75% of the building will be family and kids that have no clue about the behind the scenes stuff here. He'll be fine.
We still booed de Blasio on opening day, I see theres a difference cause ones a player for our team and the other is an elected official. But I still see Lamps being booed

I'm the last guy to know the MLS regulations, but if he retires now, does he forgo the balance of his ~$6m salary? If he does, he's not retiring.

He would forgo it but what's to stop CFG from hiring him as a consultant for the remaining amount?

Depends on what his contract says and what arrangement he comes to with the club. No one can answer your question without that information.

It's not clear that he "wasn't a member of the team." We held his rights, and he was working out and rehabbing with the Club. He wasn't signed to a contract, that's true, but there was certainly every expectation that he would if he could get back to full health. It's really too bad he didn't, as he is a talented guy.

A player can't feature in game play if not signed to a contract. For all intents and purposes of the roster, he wasn't part of the team, ever, if we believe the after-season PR.

-edit- that said, he was part of the club, but not the team, since the senior team is very different from he rest of the employees of the club.

I don't think he'll retire unless its under medical advisement. As long as he's rehabbing the strain he'll remain on the roster.
