Man City Discussion

Could have gone with Batshuayi though.
Also, if he doesn't have any confidence in Batshuayi there, then he should have done a better job landing a Llorente or similar over the offseason. Or at least not completely alienating Costa to the point where he couldn't even play at all in the first half of the season.

The announcers were in agreement that he made the right decision based on what pep was doing. He did eventually come on and you can argue that city took even more control of the game at that point. Does anyone remember anything Chelsea did after the 73rd minute?

City are so good right now (and since 2012) sometimes as someone who's followed them since 99 it's hard to comprehend that this is real. They were dominant in everything but finishing today and that was missing arguably their best attacker. I get spoiled at times these days expecting to win almost every match and the style of play is probably the best it's ever been. I have to confess as passionate as I am about NYC I almost prefer they don't play on the same day as it was hard to watch us (NY) after City's passing master class earlier in the day.

City still cruising. Won without Aguero, Ederson, still winning without Kompany and Mendy... critics... where they at?
You can make that injury case for any team. The best teams can still do it without one or two regulars. Take City and United for example this year.
Regardless of what they do this season people will be throwing out 'but if they lose 6 of their starters..' until the title is clinched.

New storyline, City obviously weakened by their Champions league schedule, lets talk about how the 1-0 win are Burnley is really a loss because City didn't score 5.

"Pep doesn't have the personnel to rotate his team effectively city will probably drop points the first time they come up against the ordained media darlings Man U." "Clearly city need to play more long passes, their short passes are just suited to the English game"

Blah blah blah.

Yup, basically. Read a piece last week that pointed out how they are resting during games when they go ahead. Which is helping them with the midweek games. United just lost today and Chelsea had a hard time as well. Think this team will go a long time before they are beat. Stones has been incredible, Walker has work to do with his passing but his runs down the right are unrelenting. We didn't look like we were on point today but we didn't have to be. Gave Jesus and Sterling rest and De Bruyne/Aguero/Fernandinho a breather. Happy with the outcome.

In other news, Aguero has just become the equal-highest scoring player in the club's history. He needs one more to exceed Eric Brook's total from 77 years ago, although Brook could have scored more if competitive football hadn't been interrupted by a minor event called World War Two.

We can't forget to give big ups to Huddersfield Town. Very early but I'm digging a 5 point lead at this point. City winning by an average of 3 goals PPG I believe much more Pep like numbers than last year.
