Mcfc Confirms Lampard Staying In Manchester For The Season

I wonder if such unicorns actually exist? Seriously, how many players, all things being equal, would pick NYCFC over a top prem club?

What I'm more interested in is how NYCFC (or the MLS? The Yankees?) is going to handle it the next time MCFC asks for one of our players on loan. I'm willing to give CFG/MCFC the benefit of the doubt that this wasn't the plan all along, but what's to stop it from happening again?
That was my point when I said I'd be fine with a lesser player. I don't blame Lampard solely, who wouldn't want to play for one of the top clubs in England? But if you are saying you really want to play for NYCFC and it "checks all the boxes" then you should be committed from the get go.

I'm a fan of a club on its own merit. I didn't sign up for AAA baseball. I wasn't sold AAA baseball.
Fair point, though I knew this was the feeling when the Jersey was released. But what if it goes the other way around in the future that an American from academy at nycfc get sent to man city in sure people would like that.

So what now for those that are leaving? Red bulls? Cosmos?

Speaking of the matter, Director of Football for New York City FC Claudio Reyna said,

"Frank is a star and it is no surprise that Manchester City is rewarded by his contributions on the field every single day. He is eager to get to New York once his commitment ends in England and will be available to play on arrival as a permanent member of the squad given he will come to us having played at the highest level.

We are all committed to making sure we build a winning team and that our fans get to enjoy great soccer at every single game. The opportunities open in the immediate transfer window combined with our recent successful draft ensure that we can continue to assemble a world class team that will make New York City soccer fans proud."
Why do I get the distinct feeling he didn't write that?

And God help us if they send Lampard here. Hell hath no fury like bitter NY fans cannibalizing one of our "own". Seriously, if they have one speck of sense, they will never, NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER send him here. And good riddance for me. He is more than a little responsible. The fact that he could put on such a convincing act for PR purposes suggests he is who I thought he was. I'm the fool for wavering.

Have you lived in NY long, you don't shit on NY and let it be water under the bridge, the 9/11 comments are sure to be dug up again to add salt on the wound.
Born and raised here lived here all my life with the exception of my military service. I will as I always have done bide my time and watch the plastic glory hunters come slinking back with the collective tail between their legs and cheer in this case for Frank when he comes to NY and starts scoring for us.

Ouch totally forgot about that even if he is sorry about the comments that stuff will resurface again hard. And have annoying people like Jim Rome or Olbermann start a shit storm about the team even though they never cared for the sport anyway

I actually like City across the board, due to NYCFC, this move was just bad, its bordering on false advertising.
And by bordering, you mean leaps across the bounds and shocks the conscience, then yes, it's "bordering" on false advertising.

I would expect a class action law suit to be filed Friday morning.

I may file it myself. I have a license. Easy money.

By the time Lampard ends up in NYC he'll be 37 and without any real break in over a year. Missing three months worth of games. He'll have no knowledge of Kreis' system. Or even know most of his team mates names let alone their personal play styles. Perhaps even some locker room drama like with Beckham's case in LA.

This could ruin our season. I don't see how anyone could not be upset over this unless you're only here because of a team that has only been relevant since 2012.

Do you think John Rocker would have been cheered in NY say he signed on with Yankees at some point?

He'll be there in June/July everyone knows it. A lot of people are caught up in the heat of the moment which is understandable, but it will blow over eventually and Super Frank will be sang in NY before you know it.
I will boo that bum as loud as I can from my seats in 103 right by the bench, if I opt to keep them. I'll give them time to see if they make this right.
