Mix Gone?

Mix is in KC!

Why would he not travel with the team when healthy the previous couple matches and now he does? I can think of 2 reasons.

1. Disciplinary. In which case maybe he makes his way back onto the 18 and plays out the season with us.
2. He's being traded to a central/west coast team and this flight brings him a little closer to his destination if he has to go in for a physical later this week.

He calls himself Mix because he's a "Mix" of both Norwegian and American. His real name is Mikkel right?

Pure speculation but his whole tenure in the United States smells like something dreamed up by a sports agent seeing dollar signs.

I can imagine the pitch: " So Mikkel, soccer is a major growing sport in the United States. We want you not only to be a player but a brand. We're changing your name, you're Mix now. I'll make you a superstar. You'll be huge."

Now he's riding the pine.

His father is his agent - I doubt he'd sell-out his kid.

Here's the origin of his nickname (via Wiki):
His mother coined his nickname "Mix" when he was learning to walk, as he had lots of energy and ran around the house like a mixmaster.

My guess is that Lampard and/or Pirlo are not in the 18 against SKC. Lampard looked gassed at the end of the game on Wednesday.

I don't know. Ask Bernie Kosar about that.

Even if our DPs need a replacement, you don't put a player who's been off the squad for a month back on if you're about to trade him. If Mix plays I'm standing by the discipline theory. Mix must have done something to really piss PV off and they kept it in house as best the could.

Then you're not listening. You postulated that his nickname was a contract stunt created by an agent, when it was actually by his mother when he was a child. Therefore his agent and father had nothing to do with it and the snark relating to Kosar was uncalled for.

Makes sense. PV has benched guys already this season for disciplinary reasons. Maybe that appearance at Modells had something to do with it.

After the Kosmos match, I postulated that he went off on the team in the locker room..... Just saying....

I find it a bit silly to start making hats with your logo on it before you've finished season in the states and/or gotten a solid role on the national team.

His father is obviously no dummy when it comes to marketing his son. For all we know his nickname could be made up or used as a marketing ploy.

Now you're talking out of your ass.

Mix had over 30 MNT caps before his hats came out - that's a career for many.

And why should't somebody start a fashion line at any point in their lives - it's no skin off your back or mine.

And it's actually well known where he got his nickname - it's been talked about since he was on the MNT. I cited wiki because I can't cite former broadcasts.

Are you sure you're not trolling? Because this line of posting points to either trolling or so lazy that you cannot do your own research while postulating ideas easily refuted. I'm not sure which is worse.

I am listening. It's a conscious decision to continue calling yourself by a nickname that isn't your real name. He even put it on the back of his jersey. It's all marketing.

So if your name is Richard and you go by Dick it's all marketing?

A nickname is valid in life.

Who cares?

No one really cares. I mean it just paints the picture of his tenure in New York.

Tried to turn himself into a brand and now he's not even traveling for games.

The guy is definitely at a career crossroads. His next move could be very important for him.

In the end, its about wining the game on Sunday. If Pirlo or Lamps are not in the 18, and Mix is best player to add into the 18, you add him. If a trade was imminent that is one thing, but it doesn't look like it anymore.
