MLS and Apple Broadcasting Deal

Some more observations:

1. This is actually REALLY cool:

2. Video quality is a bit interesting? Not sure if that's just the cameras at this stadium or what? but this doesn't exactly look too great:

3. Graphics are pretty blocky - hopefully will look a bit more "polished" going into the season in a week?

I'm sure they're gonna get the hang of it very soon, they're definitely just going through the growing pains!

...One thing that really annoys me (and a LOT of streaming services do this for some annoying reason) is when you hover or anything you get the big grayscale that covers most of the screen. Suuuuuper annoying, especially when you have two screens.

100% agree with this

That scorebug looks incomplete and incredibly simplistic. Almost like they ran out of time to design something (which is likely considering the time crunch they faced getting this off the ground), and so they just had to settle for this simplistic look. The time crunch was real -- I heard from a friend they were still hiring associate producers a couple weeks ago. They're going to get this thing off the ground next week by the skin of their teeth.

I'd bet some money that's why they're broadcasting these three matches without much in the way of advance announcements. Ain't nuthin' wrong with a little preseason practice.

Knowing how software development as well as everything in these kinds of industries work... yeah, that's just how it works in general. And they're going to be throwing things at us throughout the season probably as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see abrand refresh happen a few weeks into the season as well...

Maybe they launch something for Leagues Cup or the playoffs, but I don't remember any networks changing their look a few weeks into the season. Usually what you see is what you get for the season. They might add some features, but a total brand refresh would be strange.

Oh, I agree... but this branding going into the season is... not great. I really hope they pull something out asap, or that this is just some pre-season stuff and not the official season-starting branding?

I wouldn't be mad if they added to it slowly as the season progresses... lol

Watching on my Xbox in hdr and this is the best quality an MLS game has been. I still think the scorebug could be more compact bur great start.

Edit: Out of every sport I watch, this looks better than MLB, NBA, NFL or ufc. The only thing I change is the score bug.
Edit2: After listening again I hope they fix the sound mixing. But that be fixed

I was watching galaxy vs Toronto and I didn’t get the radio option on my smart tv. Just Spanish/English broadcast.

Also not sure if it was me only but the commentators audio was very low, and I can’t hear them as much. the mics from the stadium were much louder.

I can't remember the last time I've seen an MLS game look so good on a screen. Bought the pass so I can watch our games without having to deal with shitty streams.
Seems like the Houston-Dallas game disappeared. Can't fight a replay or highlights.

Just wait till our shitty camera angle at YS. I still don’t understand why they can’t put a temp camera station in the 300/400 section if no one is sitting there anyway. Guess it’s just another thing to look forward to when we have our own home.

Anyone figure out a way to turn off the scores in the app or website? I know I’m not going to be able to watch all games live and I don’t really want to ruin it for myself before I get a chance to enjoy it

Probably because they're not allowed to. The Yankees are pains in the ass to work with. It's really no wonder games at Citi Field look so much better.

Feature request maybe? Idk where but I assume you could try tweeting at MLS or Apple or something idk...

Apparently they are still building the set and last night's was a temp.
This is great news. It felt like a temp, as I had suspected heh. Question is will they ahve it ready in time for opening day? Who knows.

On Roku TV, you can go into settings and turn off "show sports scores" or something like that. I can't find that option on the web browser version, and the setting only applies to that Roku device (or maybe any Roku device you sign into?) so for now I'm going to focus on my Roku Tv. I would expect that all AppleTV apps in other devices have the same option.

Edit: Just to clarify my poor phrasing above. While using a Roku device, the above option is in the AppleTv settings, not the Roku settings.

Well I was super annoyed that in the bug they had a purple block for Orlando, which was fine, but for New England it was navy blue when they're wearing white jerseys. Kind of a pet peeve of mine that some networks who shall remain nameless (CBS/Paramount+) don't change the colors to match the jerseys, but then to their credit they did change it to white once somebody noticed.

First purple and navy

Then purple and white

So, uh, which one’s the red team ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
