iirc - penso is very card happy, no?

this could be ugly for us since we seem to be unlucky with cards this year.

The one NYCFC match he refereed this season was at the Revolution. Thiago and Taty picked up yellow cards while Alfredo got two yellows and was sent off.

The Revs received 4 yellow cards, two in stoppage time.

If Ronny is good at his job he makes this a point of emphasis.

i always assumed that some sort of "scouting reports" were made on refs by teams. Is the ref lenient/ harsh? does he give early cards? is he easily influenced ? etc. but im not sure it happens, i feel like it should.

There is no away trip in MLS or even in all of American professional sports quite like going to Yankee stadium. Gonzalo Pineda referred to the feeling of playing there as “twisted” due to the disorientation one feels with the awkward way in which the pitch sits inside a baseball ground. And if that isn’t tricky enough, then you have the obvious: that the pitch itself is extremely narrow and requires specific tactical planning. So much so, in fact, that Pineda revealed last week that the team is training on practice fields painted to its exact dimensions.

if people had no major issues with the gold cup final field dimensions then yankee stadium dimensions is no longer a valid excuse.

People use this same excuse every freakin' year and it's just getting old. Learn to deal with it. Mexico just played at 17F temperatures with snow in Canada. It's a smaller field. Some fields have turf which plays differently. Some fields have crazy wind or atmospheric differences that make the ball move differently. Let them yell and scream about our small pitch and "twisted" stadium directions or whatever.

To be fair, is the article making excuses or even complaining about the dimensions?

Or is the article noting that Yankee Stadium has unique dimensions and sightlines (which I think we all agree on) and that they should consider them heading into the match?

I'm gathering more of the latter.

People always complain about the dimensions, but I'm pretty convinced the thing that throws off opponents is the angle of the field in relation to the stands; their depth perception is all out of whack.

This article, sure, i'll give them that. But for basically everyone else, it's the case.

Totally agree.
