NYCFC Confirm Departure of PV. Nice Confirm Arrival of PV as Manager.

Any MC supporters have any insight/thoughts as to the prospect of CFG cycling through another MC coach like Davies of the EDS, or whoever is there now? What's his trajectory and/or any of the others? CFG could go easy/convenient fix if they see it as fulfilling some perceived end game that benefits the "family".

are we still going to play out of the back ?

are we still going to play out of the back ?
I hope so, with some adjustments and Plan Bs with fresh eyes as necessary. If we blow up the system in toto mid-season, it will be a big mistake. To PV's credit, he has implemented a successful (and exciting) system which fits our current roster relatively well.

not exactly blowing it up but man ....against red bull do not play out of the back at all....team is too slow against a good press. i know PV was trying different stuff past few games but it hasnt been working that well.....only against Rapids but thats because its the rapids....even against orlando first 30 mins or so it was not working so well....and even had to take tmac out and bring in sweat. houston was terrible.

Yes, our tactics against the high press, particularly the RB, have been a disaster. I will leave the tactics to another thread, but there are many for beating the high press (including some still involving possession and playing out of the back to some degree), but PV hasn't employed any.

Philadelphia seemed to figure it out and dictated play at RBA.

We went undefeated against the red bulls in the league last season, the tactics argument is tired. I don't know why the players aren't getting the share of the blame.

That's not true. In my mind, and from the post-game content on here, the players are getting and should be getting a ton of the blame. It's not one or the other. The RB adjusted, we obviously didn't. These weren't blow-outs because of talent or effort alone.

Problem is that it ignores the fact that it doesn't work in all games and not all games are equal.

How quickly we forget "Flick-Gate".
Oh I haven’t forgotten it, but mention anything negative about Villa and expect the wrath of a certain few.

Villa should watch Lewis if he wants to perfect his flicks. So far Lewis is 2/2 on rainbows in limited action.

because RB adjusted and are beating us again with the press. PV didnt adjust
So what tactics does Patrick need to implement to help the team complete 3 passes in a row against the red bulls? We brought in Berget for long ball and hold up play and we still lost against them. Our players are getting punched in the mouth and they're not fighting back, that's what's happening here.
