NYCFC Confirm Departure of PV. Nice Confirm Arrival of PV as Manager.

I saw Katie Witham of Fox Sports wearing the Timbers Parley jerseys outside the stadium after the game. Don't know if she wore it on the broadcast. Told her the jersey looks nice. Should have asked if she'd wear an NYCFC one if we were the home team.
She had it on because they did a segment on the parley shirts. It was also personalized by Timbers’ kit man.

Yes, agree with everything you wrote. Someone doing a feature is fair game for an event like that -- completely agree with you there.

Let me clear, I am sure Glenn can put those slight biases aside -- that's not my concern. He's a professional, and that's his job. My concern is the perception that he's bought and paid for because he participated in something like this.
Agree that the perception is the largest concern there.

The counter example is Zidane
In the wake of Madrid's win over Bayern yesterday, the New York Times ran an article about Zidane's low-key management style. Their thesis is that rather than attempt to be a "philosophical" manager which tries to mold a team to a pre-imagined vision, what Zidane allegedly excels at is simply in-game management (unlike, say, a certain NYCFC manager).

While he made the odd initial choice of trying to squeeze both Modric and Kroos onto the pitch in a 4-1-4-1 yesterday, which wastes at least one of them, the Times praises Zidane's choice of halftime substitutions as a simple acknowledgement of his mistake and an astute observation of what would change the game in Madrid's favor. They present an interesting anecdote that in last year's CL final, all Zidane told his team at the half, when it was 1-1, was to push their line up by 15 meters.

That's a great read. Thanks for pointing it out.

Don't all the Yankees and Red Sox media members have an annual baseball game? I'd say getting to play a game in one or both of those parks is a better perk than going out to Westchester to see a gym and get a jersey.

This is nothing, and I'm pretty sure most teams do something along the lines of this with their media.

You're right -- they play a game at each ballpark every year. I'm going to reserve judgement on it because I know nothing about how that transpires (for example, does the baseball writers' association rent the fields for these games, etc). Something like that would mitigate some of my issues with it. Without knowing those details I can't really opine on it.

Wasn’t sure if this needed a new Thread or just continue here, but Everton may be calling... hope they like only going in with a Plan A each match.

No idea how credible the source site is.

Crucially, Vieira is only on £2m a year at NYC FC, a figure Everton could easily eclipse. The club would not stand in his way if he expressed an interest to move.

Vieira is on $2.7M per year? Damn.

And NYCFC may not stand in his way, but what about CFG? And leave right in the middle of the summer? Who would replace him? An assistant coach? Caleb Porter? Someone from Man City to do the job for 6 months?

I’m not worried about who could be brought in to replace him, money talks and they can find somebody suitable.

If Everton wants to buy out Vieira’s contract, let them. Let him screw up games in an unforgiving league followed by rabid press and fans. CFG would probably replace Vieira with Arteta, and while there’s no barometer available to gauge if he’d be better, he surely can not be any more stubborn than PV, and any flexibility shown (toward matches, roster 18s, players’ positions in the squad) will be a welcome sight.

The Red Bull loss is just exposing a lot of negative attitudes towards Vieira, but they're right.

So far, in our time with Vieira we've learned he sticks to his principles always which includes his method of play and no second chances. Both of which are not great policies for a manager.

If we don't see Jonathan Lewis in the 18 vs. LAFC. Then something is very wrong.

I don't want him at Everton.

We're also still paying Koemann for another year and Big Sam has a £5 Million guarantee for next season.

I really wonder now that we know PV has been an active possibility for Arsenal how much has it affected the team and his managing???? The fcking RB fiasco was knee-deep in the process of when he was initially contacted/said he wasn’t in the running and now. Based on how the team got dismantled by RB, sure looks in hindsight like he wasn’t fully focused.
