NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Why is the MLS transfer window so late anyway? It doesn't officially start until February 18. Why not just open registration when the big leagues have their winter window, starting January 1?

I don't know for certain, but I just looked at a website which lists all the transfer window dates around the world and noticed that (and I didn't do a comprehensive check because screw that but I looked at enough) the primary window is never longer than three months and the secondary one never longer than one month. It could, therefore, be more a question of MLS knowing exactly when they want their window to end and less a question of being picky on when it starts.

Just throwing ideas out, of course. Don't take that answer as authoritative because as far as I know, it's not.

That's made even weirder by the fact this is a month after training camps began. So any transfered in player can't start until a month into preseason. That seems silly.

Gago has had 2 Achilles surgery over the last 3 years. He would be a really good addition , he has played on the Argentinian national team and played at a high level. His injury would concern me.
Gago was always a favorite of mine during his time at Real Madrid (still have an old jersey of his), but his injury history has to be carefully considered. In a salary capped league production/$ is hugely important and for that reason I'd pass.
