Not digging the weird stripes. But I still like it much more than the home. Definitely will be buying this one instead.

I'm going to agree with you. The stripes look terrible, would be much nicer if they weren't there.
I still like the home kit better.
Here's a close up of what I'm guessing is a real kit they just sent in email.
Awesome shirt. Cannot wait to wear this one. Good on the club for confirming it, instead of letting us fester with rumors. I think blue shorts might look better with the black top, but that is just my bias against monochrome kits. Either way, a huge upgrade!
I really hope the stripes are not as reflective as some of the pictures are showing them as. A different shade of black works perfectly.
I think anyone weary of the stripes should give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Jerseys almost ALWAYS look better on the field than they do in some crappy promo shot.
Speaking of which; there is some weird shopping going on in the new image. Lampards hands are in the EXACT same spot. Same with the "Inaugural Season" print.

I'd bet that NYCFC was behind the EA leak so they can get a feel if the fans like the design. If we didn't and raised hell they'd have time to make changes. Probably the reason why we can't get them next week with the home jersey.
My only thing about the leak is this.... If they didn't plan on releasing the jerseys until 2015, lots of people on the fence would come to terms with the home and buy it anyway. So why give them a jersey they potentially like more and only buy one.
If they release it in early 2015 and its this sexy, now you're buying two jerseys. Maybe they don't think they'll lose money since so many preorders are sold out already, but my gut is they didn't want anyone seeing the jersey for fear of people only buying one instead of two.

It would be extremely unlikely to get stars (whether sports, music, movies, etc.) to pose for specific shots in specific clothes. Promo shots are routinely 'shopped. These guys were probably wearing plain monochrome shorts and shirt (maybe green, maybe blue) to make it easy to sub in photos of the gear.
The email they sent out read "New York City FC today revealed the club's away jersey, completing the team's look for the inaugural 2015 season," which I take to mean no more jerseys the first year.

I would like to know that myself this will be the only Adidas I will own. They are the MLS uniform supplier, I pray they are outbid in 2018 by one of the other big suppliers Nike, Puma and Under Armour.
