I wonder if we'd try to rehire him and poach him to come back here instead of to Miami. It was working before, after all.
CFG is a vindictive organization. They may have publicly, and possibly privately, parted on good terms, but I’d be very surprised if they’d welcome him back.
Nah. He’s too ambitious, won’t want to be seen as taking a step back. If he goes to Miami, at least he can say he wanted to build a team from the ground up.

So is it expected that Vieira will abandon Nice mid season or that Miami will use an interim coach for half of a season. Both possibilities amuse me.

I mean he's got them in what, 15th place? I wonder if he thinks he's on the way out there, so he's got a fallback?
But yes, that would be highly strange and is the main reason I question the report. Unless he's fired by Nice, I find it hard to believe he's leaving there midseason to come back to MLS when his whole goal has been to manage in a top-5 league. Why would he come back to MLS?
Using MLS’ archaic rules, Miami will pay NYCFC directly for the fee Nice owed when luring PV away. Same use of rules when a player leaves an MLS club for overseas and then returns to the league.

Convention would say that Miami would have to pay compensation but, I don’t think this story has legs. Vieira is being heavily linked with the Arsenal job so a move back stateside is unlikely at this stage.
GVB will be installed before then. I’d hope his extensive knowledge of Dutch youth football (and contacts) might help with some inspired recruitment.
Odd that there have been no rumors about the coach for 2-3 weeks. GVB was talked up for a while but that chatter has stopped, with nothing to replace it. If they were talking to anyone notable you figure there would be news. It's unusually quiet even by NYCFC standards. I had thought that the longer it went the less likely it would turn out to be GVB but now I'm wondering if it is him again just based on the total lack of rumors of anyone else.
