The TV rights for Open Cup are pretty much up for grabs.
This telecast was a one-off to gauge interest in the viewing audience.
The fact that it had better numbers than MLS matches bodes well for the future.
I'd agree with that but I wouldn't mind seeing the rounds where USL and NASL teams enter the tournament. If any amateur teams survive to that point, it could be interesting.it's great to have YouTube live feeds for early rounds but for the round where MLS teams come in and on TV is a must. That will provide the $$$$

im actually ok with the ruling, i mean they can still win the USL title so it doesnt really hinder their development.It's MLS's own fault, if they didn't try to bend the rules USSF wouldn't make these rules. Too bad, I was hoping for NYCFC vs nycfc2 battle someday.

I think this is a reason they made this decision. Would an organization ever let their 2 team beat their 1 team?
