Yankee Stadium Matchday Megathread

How was the Bronx Ale House?

It was pretty good. We got there around 2pm from Staten Island. It was a bit of a trek and it's nowhere near the stadium so that deterred me. BUT, the food was great and the Third Rail IPA and Founder's Ales were $1 off and you received a raffle ticket which each beer for a chance to win NYCFC merch. My wife won a t-shirt so she was happy with that. It wasn't too crowded which was also nice.

In order to beat the crowds we took a cab from there which was simple enough but my driver took some backwards way and took us about 20 minutes to get to YS from the ale house. I would consider going there again but it's a little out of the way and not necessarily worth the trouble. If you're coming from the north I would definitely suggest it.

I too was at the Ibanez - Ibanez game.

The atmostphere overall was the best Yankee Stadium has seen since that night (the last Yankee home playoff game I think?). It felt like a Yankee playoff game in the Fall.

Can you imagine hosting the MLS Cup at Yankee Stadium in November? The place would be busting at the seams.

I'm more bullish on game 2. If we got 43,705 for Game 1, I think we get 33,000 for Game 2. 300s will open up.

I'm so sick of hearing stuff like this. I'm beyond the point where I'm even giving credit to the ticket reps for being professional and attentive. It's about time they started running the fan side of this business with some professionalism and competence.

Definitely agree with this.

Considering we just beat the defending Eastern Conference champs yesterday 2 - Nil, there's a lot bitching and moaning going on.

The play of the team has nothing to do with the experience at the stadium or by the staff. If they had lost 2-0, then would it be more acceptable to complain about the stadium experience? Don't confuse good play with how a club handles its fans.

@Shotofjmoh reached out to NYCFC Help again the other day, but no response... a new thread has been created to discuss commemorative tickets - apparently they're putting people on a spreadsheet to get them... we'll see

Its difficult to find, because myself went to find today the invite to post it here and had trouble finding it. however if you are not exactly sure what or where to look for it- its there in their website under a U-21 event .

here is what I tried coping and pasting and only part of it showed up : maybe it may help you or any one interested- The invite say to meet at Giovani's Restaurant . I searched for and 3 Giovanni's restaurant in the Bronx. Note that invite spelling is 1 n and the results came with 2 n's. In my knowledge of the area, the closest Giovanis to Yankee stadium is 149 Street and Grand Concourse . The one in little Italy is not( too small and that is more like a small pizza parlor) the other one is too far north of the Bronx. If I can locate another TR member to get more info. I will post it here. I'm just a new TR member. to RSVP you have to find the invite it will not work here.

Hey, did anyone check out the merch for sale in the stadium? I am taking a trip back home to Virginia next weekend to visit my new nephew. I want to get this little guy in some NYCFC gear asap. Im wondering if the stadium has a good selection for the baby and my 5 year old niece or should I order it online and hope it gets here in time. Thanks.

I saw a pretty good selection of stuff at the stadium store. Some items I recall: child sized scarf, onesie, tiny shirts, small stuffed balls, maybe some hats.

Does anyone know if they had this stuffed David Villa? I'd love to get one for my buddy's baby.

Hi 12th man, my apologies for not answering sooner. I did not attend because everyone was talking about meeting here and there and everywhere, ( that to me smell like disorganization)and the chanting and marching was most likely not to happen knowing how the city handles large groups (need a permit for that ) . In addition I am a bit disappointed with the SG, their communication with the members is poor that I was unable to confirm if the event was going to take off. S since the meeting place was like 20 + blocks away from the stadium. Overall once in the Stadium It was a bit of a letdown from all the SG's , there was little chanting .In Spanish we have a saying. "es solo buche y pluma" While at the stadium I only noticed 2 guys in my section that were the ones who were directing our section to do the wave when our turn would come. I dont know to what SG they belonged , but they were the most enthusiastic in bringing the crowd in the wave and chanting NYCFC. If I see them again tomorrow I will try to get more info from them. YOU are our 12th man , are you going to attend the game? We need you there :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems strange to "lightly" advertise an event and then have no further communication about it. Did the SG never get back in touch with you about the event even after the fact?

I, including three others, will be there today. We will be loud!

Nemeth is still out due to sprained right knee and De Jong and Espinoza are on international duty but SKC is still a strong team with Zusi, Besler, Opara, Dwyer, Sinovic/Dia, Medranda, Anibaba, Peterson/Anor and others.

I think the key to the game will be whether are backline continues to bend not break, not allow Opara and Anibaba to win headers from crosses and long throw-ins and how Mix, Grabavoy and AJ do against Feilhaber, Carrasco and Nagamura.

While it may seem minor and like a given I do give some credit to them for putting all the NYCFC stuff on the electronic boards and having lots of temporary pieces and having the vendors wear NYCFC hats and shirts etc. to make it feel like it's our home game. Again might seem like it should be taken for granted but when I occasionally (my brain could be failing me) go with a friend who was a big Metrostar fan to old Giant's stadium I don't really remember them doing even that much. Again memory might be faulty I was never a regular but went to a game or two a year for a while with a friend who was into them (and sadly has stuck with RB) also on the two occasions I went to Foxboro (long time ago) don't remember them doing much of anything to distinguish you were at the revs not Patriots.

Yup, you would hardly ever know that the Patriots are not in MLS if you went to a match in Foxboro. They don't even bother with the pro-shop for Revs games to put anymore than a small chunk of the store to Revs gear. At YS, they seemed to convert pretty much the entire store to NYCFC!

Don't know where to get a stuffed David Villa for your baby..But would love a stuffed Sergio Aguero being a MCFC fan here in the UK.

I get why they'd put a lot of the tweets up, but it felt like the same 5 tweets throughout the entire game on the miniature board. Maybe put some match stats on there? There's gotta be a better use.

I did get a laugh when I looked up there at some point and there was a tweet from a guy named @TheRealBigCox25

By the way, after so many years of seeing MLS teams playing on top of faded football gridirons, it was kind of fun to be in Yankee Stadium last night and see the Bronx Bombers running around an outfield superimposed with faded soccer lines.
