Alleged Sexual Harassment at NYCFC

Yeah totally agree with this. You can’t expect a rep to give you anything other than a pre packaged lawyer approved script.

All the power to you for raising it with your rep but if you’re really that upset about it then ask them to cancel your membership. That would garner a quicker response, I’m sure.
FWIW my rep went way above and beyond in addressing the issue, saying thank you several times and talking about the issue and how much it angered him. The key may be that he was my rep and they didn’t want to think they’d lose my business, but I got a call the same day I sent my email. I did specifically say in the email that I wasn’t sure I would be comfortable supporting a club that didn’t take this sort of thing seriously, so maybe that triggered something...

To me, it's more important for the club reps (even ticketing) to know that you're aware of these things. We're a big part of revenue. STHs reaching out and telling the club to address the situation will move this forward faster than everyone sitting on their hands. But I agree, expecting anything immediately from a rep would be naive. I think most just want the club to know they know this is out there with hopes of getting them to act on it to keep people happy. Probably the least we can do.
This 100%. The more people reach out, the more they know they can’t just sweep it under the rug and wait it out.

seems like a strange way to make a statement...

glenn looks like he's copy/pasting from somewhere.. but from where?

It was probably an emailed statement to media.

Give them a chance to investigate. This is the initial statement that confirms they are aware, but there's not much they can say until they've investigated.

Also we should all be prepared for them not to do much over this. The prime accusation is against a player who no longer plays here, the CEO at the time is no longer here, etc. Unless they can confirm people still at the club did anything wrong, there isn't much they can do other than apologize.

I almost posted something of a similar sentiment as a reply to one of Glenn’s replies. Then I remembered that I didn’t want to spend my afternoon being dragged on a platform that’s not exactly known for level-headedness, rational thought and civil discourse.

far be it from my MO to defend CFG or NYCFC management, but it would be imprudent and inadvisable to come out guns blazing on this one. They have to take some time to do some fact finding and have some idea as to what the actions and who exactly the responsible parties were.

I just wish they’d broadcast the statement via email as well, to everyone on their lists and STHs

In a statement provided by Villa’s agent, the player denied any wrongdoing. “I strongly object to the accusations made about me on Twitter. These accusations are entirely false and I deny them,” said Villa, who implied that he had already left the club before the intern arrived. However, Yahoo Sports confirmed that the intern did in fact work at the club in 2018.

“It’s hard to understand why this was not raised previously if any one felt uncomfortable at any time,” he added before asking “the media and the public to please respect my right to the presumption of innocence in this matter.”

Well, the media is now running with the story. Probably the most important thing that can happen for those of us who want the club to take it seriously.

Stejskal had a Q&A on the Athletic today and someone asked about it - Sam said that it’s a story they are looking into. Expect this to get more traction given that he is one of the leading MLS writers nationally.

oh that's a shaky defense. Hard to imagine his publisit allowed him to release a comment like that. If you are going to deny it, deny it. Don't give a talking point reply, he's going to get skewered.

That is interesting. Curious as to what the actual language that was used that led to the writer thinking it was implied.

Yeah that's kind of a cringe-y thing to say. Smells a bit like victim shaming.

Definitely weird. They overlapped at the club for about 7 months.

Well this is definitely "out there" now, I got a push notification from the ESPN app.

Villa's whole statement has been released, and i'd say the writer took his words out of context or misinterpreted them. I think Villa was claiming that she never brought it up to the club, even though he had been gone for a year while she still worked there.

My inclination is to believe people when they claim they were abused.
But it’s a vigilant sort-of belief

ehhh.Fuck it. No one cares about logic and reason or anything else these days other than supporting whatever far left or right agenda is important to them or them or them others being popular to their friends that week.

crazy times. Everyone has checked their brain at the fucking door.
