I see a lot more Yankees hats on peoples heads who want to represent their city, than NYC flag hats. Create your own identity rather than some symbol of the city government.

I believe the fans of the Chicago Fire specifically asked for and voted on a 3rd jersey that incorporates the city flag thus choosing to make that part of their own identity. It wasn't forced on them by the club. You don't like the NYC flag and that's fine, but it has no bearing on what the Chicago Fire or LA Galaxy do with their 3rd kits. From everything I've read and seen, those 3rd kits are very popular and sell very well. Also, I seem to recall a lot of people here on the forums asking for more orange on the NYCFC home kit which would come from the NYC flag and which would make it more NYC and less Manchester. At this point no one is clamoring for a kit that replicates the NYC flag, but I could see it being popular among supporters as a 'fuck you' to MCFC.
I get your point, I just think it is lame and uncreative.

Worth mentioning that Union beat guy Jonathan Tannenwald has reported that MLS/Adidas are trying to phase out third kits.

These kits are all shit. I'm convinced that there are two completely different teams at Adidas that design kits. One for MLS, and the other for the rest of the world. Adidas makes some excellent kits for Euro teams. I'd be surprised if the same people are designing the MLS kits.

Actually yes each team is has a say be Adidas moved there design team to Brooklyn, that's team that are design MLS stuff right now as well as the world and if you look at the rest of the world you can see that the problem is that Adidas materials and designs just pain suck. Not much they where two separate times before but not anymore. Adidas design guidelines and principles are just bad. Why I would like Nike, Under Armour or the newly named New Balance football (formally warrior football) to swoop in his a crazy high bid for MLS.
Agree. It's not just the designs either. The fabric that they use is incredibly shitty compared to euro jerseys. I have a few Adidas replica jerseys from European teams. They are soft and breathable. My authentic NYCFC jersey feels like it's made out of a cheap polyester...
This isn't true for Euro clubs, which is why I feel that Adidas has two separate teams working on them. I got my son a Real Madrid jersey and the quality and design are superb. My guess is there's a team in Europe making the euro kits, and a team in the US making MLS.
You want to see real shit? Check out the kits Macron makes. Every year they pump out shit for my beloved Napoli.
Yeah, it does feel awful. The Real Madrid jersey uses great material, though.

Or NB football the quality they Liverpool and I'll be happy.
Btw all of those uniforms are around $90. Same price an MLS jersey is now and the quality is so much better.
