2015 U. S. Open Cup

Solid article from the Telegraph discussing the U.S. Open Cup:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ce-but-MLS-clubs-are-playing-hard-to-get.html

Best line: "It [an all-NY final] would be a nice historical tidbit since we haven't had an all-New York Final since the first championship game in 1914. Although, technically, the Red Bulls are based in New Jersey, so you'd have to put an asterick by that."

They actually printed "asterick"? Does that paper not have editors?

Spoke to my rep about the matches, he said they would probably be played at Columbia. Ticket allotment would be small, around 5,000. Then again, just speculation.

Doesn't it have a capacity in the teens? Why would they cap it?

Like I said, speculation. I asked him if there would be any other matches (i.e. exhibition versus European teams, US Open Cup). He said that there would be no more additional matches at Yankee Stadium during the regular season, hopefully if we reach the playoffs we get those games here.

Unless we lose.

In all honesty, this was a matchup I was hoping for. Let's get both rivalries kicked off this year.

Have we settled on a venue to host Open games?
I really hope we don't overlook the Cosmos... They have a really good team and have yet to lose so far in the NASL season. This is a game we absolutely can and will lose if we don't come prepared.

If an "alternate" squad is sent in minus villa then this won't end well.

I kind of expect an alternate anyway as this match is between playing Montreal at home and then going away to Toronto after the US open cup.

EDIT: also, since I read that pairings are done be proximity. Does this mean we are more than likely to play cosmos every year ?
