2015 U. S. Open Cup

Where is the final or is it a two legged affair? It's a quite old tournament as well I think.

In terms of where the final is held, there is no neutral venue in the US like Wembley is in the UK. It's always played at the home ground of one of the two finalists. The two teams used to have a sealed bid contest to win the right to host the game at their own stadium, but since 2013 a coin toss has determined which team gets to play at home. Same goes for the semi-finals.

How does the ticket allocation work? 50-50?

It's really a kind of accidental national treasure. Who knew the U.S. had the 3rd oldest open soccer tournament? Despite all the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the game in the states over the years, the tournament has continued on. The whole history of soccer in America is written in the list of Champions, from the factory teams in the 20s and 30s, to the NASL (who ignored it) and the teams playing in their stead, to MLS. Who has won the most? Bethlehem Steel and Maccabi Los Angeles with 5. Right behind them are Chicago Fire and the Seattle Sounders with 4.

Also, here is what HC Kreis said about it before RSL played in the final in 2013.

“I think the idea of the U.S. Open Cup is a great one. I love that it’s all levels of the game, starting from the amateurs to the semipros,” he said at a press conference Monday. “I love that we have that trophy, and I think it’s a great one.”

I would love to see the team put a solid effort into this competition.
The thought of competing in CONCACAF champions league makes me drool.
and why no go for it, i mean i do know that we wont be able to fully challenge for the MLS cup at least not this year.

i was reading an article saying that the NASL wanted to speak with USSF about earning a direct berth to the Concacaf champions league :confused::rolleyes::rolleyes:. Come on NASL win the US OPEN cup dont try to go ways around it to make it to CCL.

They want to be considered Div1 when they really aren't.

Completely stupid sport if they want to put a little white ball down a hole ,why not just play pool badly and save all that walking round the course ?

Best line: "It [an all-NY final] would be a nice historical tidbit since we haven't had an all-New York Final since the first championship game in 1914. Although, technically, the Red Bulls are based in New Jersey, so you'd have to put an asterick by that."
BOOM goes the head of all 30 fans of the f.cosmos.

Still laughing at Sto(n)er saying they'd be open to share a stadium with us. LOL. Let them figure it out on their own.

This is a very winnable competition if we focus on it. I hope we do. It'd be nice to pick up silverware and a CCL spot in year one.

I mean Philly almost won it last year so we could definitely manage it.

I have this feeling that Poku is going to be the player of the tournament. Seems like the perfect time to let him prove himself. Give Shelton starts, probably McNamara.

Why do I feel like our bench is more talented than our starters? Hooray depth!
