2015 U. S. Open Cup

Actually played against Medaille this year in college. That stadium would be a bad choice I'm thinking. Its extremely out of the way and very run down. Covered seating on only one side and the field has so many random lines on it. The best college in the area to host a game like that would be SUNY Cortland, and even that would be a bad idea.

Did you really mean Cortland? It's about 4 hours from NYC. Binghamton's soccer stadium is nicer, and it's closer, only 3 hours away lol.

I was replying to the Medialle stadium being not that great and said that in the area Cortland would be a better option. I clearly wasnt saying Cortland is the best option- actually if you read my post I say "it would be a bad idea."
So yeah, in my post I did mean to say Cortland. But wasn't suggesting it would be a good site, just better than Medialle in that same area. With that said, Bearcats stadium is crap.

Well I wouldn't say that Buffalo and Cortland are in the same area, but I guess if you're lumping upstate in together it is.

As for watching a soccer game, I'd rather watch it at BU than Cortland. There are a number of better upstate stadiums than Cortland.

Yeah I was lumping them together. And I can't think of many stadiums that are that much better than Cortland? Always been my favorite place to watch games and I've been to just about every stadium in the area as a player/spectator.

Also are you from the Cortland area? Would be cool if I found another local NYC fan.

Edit- I see you're from Binghamton. That's cool! I work there twice a week. And my dad works at the college!

If places like Cortland, Bing and Buffalo are being talked about, UAlbany's new 8,500 seat stadium would be worth mentioning... It's where their D1 football and men's soccer team play. I believe it also has additional grass berm seating available... Having said that, any of these locations are much too far away...

Could do some sort of shuttle with Amtrak, too, for NYC fans travelling

If y'all are talking about places that far away from the city then why not consider Rutgers which is like 40 minutes away? Plenty of seating, grass pitch and European teams like manchester city train there all the time when they are on their summer American tours. A lot of the smaller New York colleges have artificial turf.

What is the format of the cup? Is it a straight knockout like the FA Cup or a combination of league table and then knockout like The Champions League?

If it's at UAlbany I would finally get a HOME home game!!!!!!!!

Straight knockout.

It basically is the US FA Cup, right down to the "seeding" of the different divisions to determine which round you enter by what league you play in, and the qualification tournament for the minnow leagues to send through a set number of representative teams.
