2016 Mls College Superdraft

Better yet GA players are excempt from the salary cap. So in theory you could draft a kid that could have gone to Bayern but MLS signed him to a $250k contract and he wouldn't count against the cap. I believe that's similar to what Cyle Larin at Orlando is signed to.
GA's are like interest-only mortgages.... they're phenomenal for the first few years regarding the CAP hit and likely 1st-team abilities, but once they're deemed senior members the club has a huge salary to incorporate (as opposed to Shelton that can only rise so much over 3-4 years from $70K).

I'm not dismissing GA by any stretch - I think we blew it by not having one this year - but when the piper comes he's going to be paid handsomely.

As they should. I also think if you have a stud and he contributes you should plan on paying his wage from the cap when it's time.

Center backs we need centerbacks.

Zach Carroll from Michigan State should be in the mix. He has size -- 6'3" and 190lbs, is a beast in the air, is a very solid 1v1 defender and has a good soccer mind. His rep took a little bit of a hit his sophomore year at Virginia when he missed the majority of the season with a hamstring injury, but after deciding to transfer to Michigan State for his junior and senior years, he has once again built up his rep with very solid play at CB.

I think the stats were we scored the sixth most goals of any team in MLS, josh Saunders had the most goals saved in MLS, but we still had the most goals against in MLS.
But do we want college center backs? I'd prefer we take the best available player and look for quality CBs in traditional locales.

You should always take the best player available. If that happens to be a college CB, then so be it. Plenty of other MLS teams are doing fine with drafted CB's -- or homegrown CB's. No need to spend the money on oversea options unless you are getting a bang for your buck.

This list is of those seniors that are still playing in the postseason. There are many more highly-rated seniors that are already eliminated from postseason play.

is there like a NCAA tournament like march madness for NCAA soccer? does it get televised anywhere?

Yes. It is a 48 team field that will be announced this coming Sunday. None of the games will televised until the final weekend. Up until then, many games will be available as a livestream.

The NFL is just unwatchable, so in surfing around I see there's a couple of college soccer matches being televised.

--Georgetown vs Creighton on FOXSports 2

--Maryland vs Ohio State on The Big 10 Network

--UConn vs Tulsa on ESPNU

--Florida International vs Marshall on MSG Plus.

I just turned on the Georgetown game and I haven't heard Yaro's name called yet, so I don't know if e's playing.

Ooof. Just heard his named called and whoever is doing the color commentary doesn't sound very impressed.

Pretty much said Yaro is a product of college soccer and the things he "gets away with" at that level aren't necessarily going to translate in MLS.

Now as a caveat I have to say I know less about the college game than MLS, but I thought that was an interesting tidbit to be thrown out there.

i see wikipedia also says there is unlimited subs? and other different rules. i do hope they change the rules to FIFA rules and in doing so expand the season, which is one of the things they were going for i think.

ah so the semis and final will be shown on ESPNU, well thats something i guess.

I went to our local college's mens game earlier this season, and they were allowed 3 subs per half.

Yes they have odd rules. MLS and some college soccer circles have been pushing for rule compliance with the international rules. By so far, no dice.

Are there any good goalies that we can get that can sit behind Saunders and learn from him/take his place when the time comes?
