2016 Mls College Superdraft

Very interesting. Maybe Harrison didn't care either way.

Or maybe this is a situation much like Leo Stolz where he only wants to play for us and people know that. Starting to feel that Harrison will "fall into our laps" at #4.

so what stops other teams before us from drafting him.

Wasting a draft pick on a guy that won't sign with them.

lol damn i didnt know this....a player can still decline a contract after he is drafted. I get teams not wanting to offer contract after preseason but a player too? so what if he says no....is he a free agent or does he go into some other MLS rules universe.

But it doesn't make sense to draft him considering our roster needs for a defender like Vincent out of Stanford

If he signs a GA deal, he's obligated to play for the team that drafts him (i.e. he's already signed on the dotted line and is employed), but if he hasn't signed anything, the draft only secures a team's rights to a player for the rest of eternity. If JH snubs the GA route, then any team drafting him is playing roulette.

Look what I found looking at the players that would participate in the MLS combine. Not making any suggestions, just saw the link and thought it was interesting.

That's a great find. Voted Clemson MVP and with his past I'm sure he has raw talent. Will be interesting to see if we can grab him in a later round.

Just because he signs a GA deal doesn't mean that he didn't have leverage in signing that deal. He could have made his voice heard that he was only signing it with the wink and nod that he won't play for certain teams. He had leverage here being an EU passport holder.

These other kids do not.

It makes no sense drafting a player based upon our needs for this season. With the rare exception, players are generally not MLS ready in year 1 and have a limited impact. There is no way a central defender can get up to speed quick enough to be solid starter going from NCAA to MLS. The gap is so.....
