2016 Mls College Superdraft

Well, we only have one pick this year due to trades. So, whatever player position we pick we will be going 100% in.

Round two picks and later rarely if ever work out in modern MLS. Most teams are all in on their first choice, and anything that comes after is just icing on the cake.

Yaro is 2-3 inch taller than Shay Facey. Are we really making the argument that the ability to play multiple position is not a positive, but a reason not to draft him? It utterly reeks of desperation if we draft the most MLS ready player.

It's immaterial whether we want to draft yaro or not. Unless pigs start flying he will be chosen by one of the teams ahead of us; most likely as first overall.

Really not sure that Yaro is definitely the number 1 pick. Danladi is as good offensively as Yaro is defensively.

For Yaro to be the #1 Choice, he has to be a transcendent defensive talent to pass on Danladi.

Baltimore? Anyone know why?

I see. I just thought it odd they're holding the draft in a city that doesn't have a team in MLS. Personally, imho, the draft ought to be held in the city of the team that were champions; in this case Portland.

Portland has to have the infrastructure to host such an event. do they have a convention center?

There is more to the draft than just the draft itself. There are numerous side events that week that need to be hosted.

Its because good defense is vastly harder to acquire in MLS than good offence. The league structure with DP's forces teams to field a strong offensive front.

Teams get to keep at least part of the jersey sales money, and unless I'm utterly insane, goal scorers always sell more jerseys than defenders. Thus your incentive as an owner is to bring in a player that can score goals.

Still, Baltimore in January??? Don't they intend to have some of those events occur outdoors?

SBI has us picking Campbell at 4. We really need Yaro and Danladi to come out for us to have a good shot at Vincent or Campbell at 4. We might not get Vincent if Harrison signs a HGP contract with us but I think we can live with both Campbell/Harrison.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for the Harrison decision to be made. If we get Harrison and Campbell/Vincent in this draft, that would be an amazing influx of young cheap talent.

I am hoping Harrison still signs a GA deal. A lot of the guys at the top of the draft are balking at the GA deals which hurts our ability to land Vincent or Campbell.

With Harrison, and maybe some of the others, you take a risk drafting him, knowing he might sign a contract in Europe.
