2017 Roster Discussion

Considering our last actual LB went down with what looked like a major concussion I'd say we're probably looking to make moves this week.

I just re-watched the injury and Ben Sweat was basically out cold on the field for a few minutes. He's definitely out for a couple of weeks.
He said on Twitter that he's fine, I expect him to play
He's going to have to pass a concussion test prior to practicing/playing, so I don't think we'll know until later this week (of course he'll tell Twitter he's ok). Even if cleared to practice, I bet they keep him non-contact/non-heading until the game.

Shelton is "down" due to injury or Vieira banishing him? Those 4-6 weeks have now turned into 14 weeks and counting.

Injury. Certainly injury. It's a hamstring problem and they don't want it to get worse but putting him back until he's 150% healthy.

If you say so. If that's the case, it was either misdiagnosed regarding severity, or they rushed him back to training and he re injured it. 14 weeks is not a normal hamstring injury for a young athlete (it's normal for a #team40 member).

Was Mix ever in the locker room or only in the stands? I honestly don't remember.

They're not mutually exclusive. Is a player going to sit in the locker room for the entire match? No, be there pregame and postgame. Watch the match from the stands.

Really don't think Shelton has a future here.

Basing that entirely on his play. He kind of sucks, guys. Although, he's probably better for us than TPFKAU at LW. Yes, both of those can be and are indeed true.

In any event, don't see him back unless his salary is cap exempted or something. Just not tactically or technically proficient enough for us. Send him to D.C. or something.

For this team, and what they lack now, Shelton is the better player.

McNamara has a role, but not as a Winger. He can't provide the defensive cover necessary.

Unless Shelton is deep in Chateau Bow Wow, he has a future, but not as a first choice starter (at least not for a few years, and not unless he improves a lot). He is useful as an offensive sub off the bench, a role he filled very well last year, no matter how much certain posters want to forget it. He can run at tired legs, deliver good balls into the box, receive a cross and win balls in the air in midfield.

I suspect that other teams might find him more useful, however, so a trade is certainly possible. Trouble is that if he really is still hurt, we aren't moving him this summer.

And he puts in effort on D. Had he been available against Chicago he would have been a much better option for what we needed at the time than Okoli. Shelton's work rate is considerably higher and he has way more pace to chase down outlet balls sent over the top at the end of games. His goals and assists per min last year were a lot better than many around here give him credit for.

Going the Brandt route. At what point do we start pointing fingers at Presbyterian? Connor had this whole thing of quoting doctor's diagnoses for a while when he was in his 'pissed off' stage. Then there was the whole 'Lampard going to Chelsea to get his injury cared for by their staff' but that was understandable since they were his go-to team for years
