Anybody know what we paid for that slot originally? We apparently bought one more int'l roster spot than we needed, presumably in the expectation of making a move that would require it. That move never happened, and we sold the spot rather than let it expire worthless. I'd like to know how much this piece of business cost. I doubt we came out ahead, or lost a lot. I expect it was either break even of $25k loss, and I'm just curious.

I've disliked the job Reyna has done since 2015, but I don't know how anyone can support him at this point.

Because Gio Reyna is talked about as the next Pulisic. But Claudio Reyna is only valuable to us if Gio plays somewhat for NYCFC so we can get that transfer fee. If he goes straight to Europe, we should hire Ali Curtis now. He has some bad blood with Red Bulls.

I'm disappointed with the lack of depth because of all the injuries but I'm not sure how much Reyna could do. Mistakes were made in putting this team together from the beginning. A lot has already been said about the money spent on Mix and Pirlo. Yes, academy teams should have started earlier. But to call this roster "not even functional" is unreasonable. We're 3rd in the east and supports shield. I also think most of the players brought in this last off-season are doing well for us: Ring, Maxi, Wallace, Lewis, Herrera... All good signings and draft picks.

I'm not saying we're going to have a nice surprise this afternoon, but let's remember the last few days of the last window, when people were freaking out because no deals were announced and the only guy signed was a C-lister like Camargo. All the remaining moves made by the FO were good or great. Ring and Herrera are absolute homeruns, Maxi maybe debatable in terms of salary or use of DP slot but is definitely not bad, not an albatross like NJRB's Veron for example, Wallace is good, Lewis trends in the right direction. So we are a club trending in the right direction. Maybe we could just trend a bit faster, with more urgency, please.

GAM yes, TAM is complicated because it needs to be used within a certain amount of time. It has an expiration date, so technically it depends when the TAM is from.

I agree that both Finley and TMac are trending downward, but TMac was never even close to Finley at his peak. Finley was a top 5 MLS winger at his peak, TMac was never close to that.

If Finley/Dax are worth $400+, TMac is half of that at best. Maybe $250 due to his age.

But... they got cap relief from the Miguel Camargo injury, and they have a few other bits of roster flexibility, and they have only three true center backs, and one of them is hurt, and they're suddenly one injury away from a full-blown crisis.

That crisis may never come, and NYCFC may still win hardware this year, and maybe they'll be able to add a center back for free sometime in the coming weeks. However, if I was Patrick Vieira I'd be pretty steamed about going into the stretch run with zero central defensive depth on the roster. If Alex Callens slips in the shower on Friday morning, the Cityzens will line up on Saturday night with right back Ethan White in the middle of the backline. If Callens is out for any appreciable length of time, then it's back to the CB pairing that Toronto destroyed in last year's postseason.

I also find myself wondering if they're going to regret not trading Tommy McNamara now, when there's a market for him. If he continues as a deep reserve – and that seems to be his current trajectory – they'll end up with pennies on the dollar.

This team had a chance to get better and more flexible, and they didn't.

So I looked this up.

As per MLS Rules in order to get cap relief:

• The injured player must be earning at least $100,000 per annum.
• The injured player must have suffered the season ending injury prior to the close the Primary Transfer Window and the new player must be signed as of such date.
• The Season-ending Injury Replacement Player may earn up to $250,000 but not more than the player who suffered the season-ending injury.
• The club is ultimately responsible for the payment of the replacement player's salary (which will not be charged to the club's budget).
• MLS clubs will only be allowed to sign one such Season-ending Injury Replacement Player a year.

Miguel Camargo's base salary is $99,999.96
